“Comfortable guest house”

My partner and I visited Ft Lauderdale over the Christmas break. We chose the Elysium because the owners were willing to accommodate us for a stay that didn't have a minimum number of nights, which was not typical of other guest houses. We had a nice visit to the Elysium. The room was simple, but clean. The pools were heated and the hot tub was large. The grounds were well-kept, and the staff was very friendly, as were most of the guests. The location was close to the beach. The only real downside for us was the age of many guests. I'm 38 and my partner is 35, and while we certainly expected that we would be on the younger end of the spectrum, we found that the typical guest was late 40s to early 50s. This didnt detract from the enjoyment of our vacation, but we have stayed at other guest houses in different cities that have a broader age range of guests. Of course, this clearly could have been coincidental, but other travelers considering where they will stay should simple be aware of the possibility.

We needed a change of scenery and took a short trip to Ft Lauderdale. The Elysium as always, was a great place to unwind. I know they can't take responsibility for the weather, but it was in the 80s and sunny which is great for December. As usual the staff was great and very welcoming; the room was clean and the location is perfect. There is always an interesting mix of personalities. People are friendly and come to have a good time. We loved it and can't wait to go back again...soon!

Room Tip: Don't miss Zona Fresca for great Mexican food- Fabricio told us about it several years ago and w...

“A Great Place and Outstanding Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Elysium has a lot going for it. It's a big resort so you don't have to be alone if you don't want to be. Yet it's intimate because of the layout and all of the public spaces here and there. When I'm tired of one group and want to meet new people, I just move to one of the other places. The whirlpool is a great place to unwind before going to bed and meeting more guys.

The staff are amazingly friendly and in good humour. No drama here. The rooms are large and clean, just like all of its public areas.

The day always starts well with a simple continental breakfast and amazing coffee. Eating under the canopy is a great place to meet others or just be by yourself.

It's well located. It's a 5 minutes walk to the beach. It's also an easy drive to all the gay places.

During each stay, I've stayed by the upper pool so that I can just walk out to the pool and lie under the sun.

I've stayed at the Elysium 3 times in the last 1.5 years and have the same experience each time. So I know that it's not just who's on the desk or the time of year -- its just the culture of the guest house.

I've stayed at other guest houses and visited many in the area. I always return to the Elysium because it's a friendly unpretentious place.

“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We just got back from our first stay at the Elysium and we are definitely going to be repeat guests. Fabricio was awesome! We had a studio with a kitchenette which was nice as we could stock up on sodas and snacks. The happy hour on Saturday was a great way to meet other guests. The property was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful! Many Thanks for a great mini holiday!

“Lush Setting, Near the Beach, Warm & Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

Several weeks ago my partner and I returned for our second visit to Elysium after having a fabulous time there this past New Years week. The tropical landscaping of the grounds is lush and relaxing, just right for sipping a cocktail. The staff was consistantly friendly, full of fun & laughter; but most importantly attentive to all your needs.
Both times our rooms were comfortable, cozy , with casual furnishings and comfortable beds. All our style for a relaxing vacation. The first time we selected a standard room which served our needs; however, on our second visit we were upgraded to a mini-suite with a sitting area and a kitchenette, which was a great plus. Once flat screen TV's go in, I think the rooms would be perfect. Both rooms had recently upgrades bathrooms.
The resort has two pools, one more secluded for those who want a more low key time sunbathing; with the other pool being more happening with an amazing view. The property also has a lovely hot tub in an out of the way corner of the property. This property also has a gym.
Each day the staff offers a really nice continental breakfast with pastries, coffee, juices, bagels, fruit and more. Just enough to get you going for a day in the sun. I found these very social starting with the smiling, & usually laughing front desk staff when you walked in, to the good morning greetings from each guest who came in for breakfast. Saturday night the owners & staff hosted a really fun cocktail hour for the guests.
If our work schedule allow, we want to spend New Years 2012 again at Elysium. Can not wait to return!
