“Our home away from home”

My wife and I have been traveling to Ft. Lauderdale for many years to embark on cruise ships and to visit family that lives there. Whenever we are in Lauderdale, our hotel of choice is the Embassy Suites on 17th Street. This affordably priced hotel is one of the best bargains in Southeast Florida. Its complimentary amenities include daily full breakfasts and cocktail hours. There is also a complimentary business center, Internet kiosk, Fitness Center, and a lovely swimming pool area. Both the bedroom and the living room are large and comfortable. The hotel runs like clockwork because of a competent, involved manager and a helpful, friendly staff. The location is great…surrounded by many restaurants within walking distance and just minutes away from the pier and the airport.

“Well Pleased”

My husband and I stayed here for one night post-cruise on January 29th. Our room was on the 6th floor and we didn't hear any noise, except for traffic noise on 17th Street during the day. We slept well at night and we found the bed to be very comfortable. Our room had very new shower curtains, carpeting, bedding, draperies plus the sofa, love seat and chairs also seemed to have been recently recovered and to me that is very important for how I rate a hotel. The bathroom doesn't come across as nicely as the rest of the room does. We had a good sized flat screen TV, sofa, loveseat and two chairs that were at a work station type desk. We thought it was great for the price we paid. We had a glass of wine along with popcorn, Pepperidge Farm goldfish and pretzels for the Manager's Reception. They didn't have real appetizers. Not much but it held us over until dinner. Breakfast was pretty good the next morning, although the lineup was a bit long and we didn't have time to wait for an omelet as we had to get to the airport.
The ladies at check-in were very friendly. Our room wasn't ready for us when we arrived as we had just gotten off the ship but we were able to leave our luggage in a secure room and when we returned at 3:00 p.m. our room was available.
There is a Publix and a Winn-Dixie within a five minute walk. There are lots of restaurants nearby including an Outback Steakhouse and a Panera Bakery, Coldstone Creamery and others. We took the Beach trolley (50 cents each way or $2.00 all day) to the Galleria Mall on Sunrise Blvd., and back again. You could actually walk to Fort Lauderdale Beach from here. If you're a good walker, it would probably take 30 to 40 minutes to reach it.
We will definitely stay here again if we are cruising and the price is right.

“Dependable great”

It seems you can always depend on the Embassy's to be great hotels, every where you stay at them. In Fort Lauderdale, the hotel is really nice, our room was big with a front room (TV, Couch, Large table, extra chairs, and a WET BAR), the bedroom was nice (TV, 2 Beds, TV, Full dresser, armoir, Extra sink/mirror area), nice bathroom, clean, with all the ammenities (frig, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron...). The free breakfast was really great and the coffee was good, the Fitness room was really nice, clean, and well equipped. The hotel is well kept and pretty inside, with a really nice lobby/lounge area.
The staff were not very friendly, but that's south Florida, people aren't that friendly generally. I didn't like the single cup coffee maker, but that's because I like to make my own coffee and prefer when the hotels have the 4 cup regular coffee maker. The towels here are FAR better than most hotels, soft and plentiful, also the sheets were very comfortable as well as the bed.
It is a great location, close to the airport, the cruise port, the beach, lots of great night life places, and your basic needs stuff, like a grocery store, liquor store, shopping, etc.
I really like the embassy and I have always had good experiences with their rooms and services.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less lobby noise, but all the rooms look out onto the center open area and its ver...

“Perfect Location/Clean/Great Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My friend and I came in from out of town to catch a cruise. Embassy Suites was PERFECT! It's not a 5 Star but the room was very large, clean, well kept and actually much better than I expected. The beds and couch were very comfortable and the sheets were crisp (unlike a previous review I found the bed to be PERFECT and not too hard at all). From the stock lotions and soaps in the bathroom, to the t.v.s (where we watched the Super Bowl after the cruise), to the multiple outlets, and the fully furnished living room with couch, desk, multiple lamps and second t.v., I can honestly say there was nothing more we needed. The front dest and in particular the concierge, were extremely friendly and the shuttle service affordable and punctual. Their free breakfast buffet was adequate (nothing to rave about), but for the price of the room I was fully satisfied (bacon; coffee and yogurts in particular!) I would be MORE than happy to repeat my stay here. Also, within walking distance to shopping and restaurants, I didn't need a taxi to prepare and wind down from my vacation. It was the perfect take-off and return for my cruise. Thank you !

Room Tip: I stayed in the rooms with the full living room on the top floors. I cannot speak for other rooms...

“Older Embassy is just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed here for 1 night. This is an older property. You can tell they try hard to keep it looking nice but the wear is definately showing. I had a room on the 10th floor. My room faced the ocean but i little too far inland so see much except a good view of the cruise ships. I did like the balcony. My biggest complaint was the bed. Rock hard like hard sand. I amost decided to use the pull out sleeper in the living room thats how bad it was. For $150 a night it wasn't up to par. The reception was pretty much popcorn and chips but the cocktails are always nice. I would stay elsewhere next time due to the bed. Restaurants and grocery 1 block away which was nice.

Room Tip: Upper floor may have ocean view.
