I think the large windows that face the street actually amplifies the sound of the traffic.
The train passes by several times in the night and announces it's presence.

I've taken many cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale and I have stayed here every time. However, you do get what you paid for. If you are like me and you don't like to fork over $150 bucks a night for one of the bigger chains, but instead want to spend half as much but still have a clean place - then this will work.

It is dated. It's a motel, not a hotel. They don't even make places like this anymore so if you don't like the entrance to your room to be directly from the outside like it was back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, then don't stay here. However if you just need a place to crash for a night before a cruise this place will work.

Also, I always taxi it over from the airport when I arrive. It's faster and you won't spend a ton of money. I always take the shuttle that they provide for free though to the cruise ship.

Again though, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay where the folks at the check in counter are nice, and you can get a free breakfast - then this place should work for most people. But if you are pretentious snob and look down your nose at anything that isn't perfect, yet you're are also a cheap SOB that wants to pay half the price and expect the the royal white glove treatment, then stay somewhere else.

I don't understand why a lot of reviews criticize so bad this property.
Ok it's not a Atlantis resort, but for U$ 40 a night?
It's ok for sleeping and enjoying the Fort Laudardale area.
The room was clean and I had no problem with the front desk.

I made a reservation with this hotel, scheduled for December 29, 2011. My plans fell through, and i cancelled the reservation on December 17, 2011….well within the 4pm check-in policy to avoid billing! Their policy states that the reservation must be cancelled BEFORE 4pm check-in time to avoid billing, on the scheduled arrival date. I cancelled this reservation 12 days earlier! So they had plenty of time to cancel this reservation, without billing me. The cancellation number is 79606225. Instead of cancelling the reservation in their system, AFTER sending me the cancellation email ensuring cancellation, the property proceeded to bill my credit card for the full amount of $58.95 anyway! When I confronted the merchant over the phone regarding the charge, they were extremely rude, refused to connect me to the hotel manager, and insisted that they NEVER charged my credit card…which is false. I was charged $58.95 on December 30, and Days Inn has REFUSED to refund the amount to my credit card.
