“Just OK - Some problems that were eventually resolved”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed here twice for one night each time, on either side of a business trip out of state. We checked in on a Saturday and the hotel was BUSY with cruiseship vacationers and airline crews mainly it seemed. The first room we were assigned absolutely reeked of mold and mildew, and although we thought we'd just try it for an hour or so (due to the fact that they were 100% booked that night), it proved to be just too overpowering. In addition, the room had a connecting door and when a family with a baby checked in next door, it was like they were in our room with us. When I called to ask about another room, the girl was friendly and wanted to assist, but clearly didn't have any room inventory. Long story short, they finally tracked down another room for us and, when I went to check that one out, it reeked of cigarette smoke. We resolved ourselves to staying in our moldy room for the night, but were relieved when we were contacted by guest service to say that a third room (albeit two double beds for my wife and I - but at that point we didn't care) was available - and thankfully was fine.

On our second stay, three days later, they had pre-checked the room for us that we would be staying in (due to the inconveniences we'd had on our first night), and we had no issues, the room was just fine.

Thankfully we didn't have to deal with any surly customer service as outlined in some of the other comments, and, while really frustrating as consumers, I will say that the staff did their best to resolve our complaints on the first stay and ensure that there were no issues on our second stay. I most definitely agree with some of the comments about the hotel being a bit run down. Having worked in the hotel business myself for a number of years, I would say that attention to detail items are not being picked up on. Just a few examples: The doors to the rooms seem scuffed up and in poor repair. Some of the caulking in the tubs is moldy and in need of replacement. The tired old 27" tube TV's are in dire need of updating. I was surprised at our experience, seeing as how I envision a particular type of product when I think of the Hilton brand - and this was not it. It is most definitely not a terrible hotel - but certainly not up to what I perceive to be Hilton standards.

Convenient location to the Fort Lauderdale airport, however, I would probably try a different property next time.

Room Tip: We stayed on the Freeway side one night and the hotel is well insulated. We heard zero traffic nois...

“Poor hotel - great food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Just stayed the one night before a flight out the next morning. The hotel is generally looking out of date and in need of a complete refit. Some of the staff also have questionable attitudes. Let's start with the bad...

First room absolutely stank of strong citrus cleaner. Maybe somebody had been smoking and they were trying to cover that smell, but whatever the reason it was unbearable. Asked to move to another room and the girl at reception acted like we had set out to make her day as difficult as possible. Next room was fine.

Tried to order room service. The woman on the phone was simply unbelievable - just grunted in response to everything...barely spoke a word. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever heard. Food arrived over an hour later and was - to our complete lack of surprise - wrong. The guy who brought the food was great - he apologized and ran off to replace the offending dish.

The water was yellow. It looked like urine. The bathtub didn't drain so by the end of my shower I was standing in a foot of water. The water finally decided to drain about 30 mins after I had finished.

The TV was a small, old, tube style set. Don't met me wrong, I don't watch much TV in hotels, but it certainly gives a bad impression when even budget places have widescreen, flat panel screens these days. Made the room look cheap.

There was one saving grace to this hotel - the food! Both the room service and breakfast buffet were absolutely top notch! I would go as far as to say the best hotel food I've ever had, in that price range.

To sum-up: Looking dated and staff need better customer service training. Not a terrible hotel by any means, but certainly needs taking up a level. Great food.

“This place has seen better days”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

No major complaints, but surprised by the dirty carpets in the hallways, old creeking elevators, old and outdated decor. Our room was fairly decent. We checked in at 10 pm, and had to leave at 4 am the next morning for a flight. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was pretty decent, and we slept well.

“Good Short Stay!!”

Despite all the negative reviews I decided to book two nights here pre-cruise. We arrived in FLL at almost 12:30 am and called the hotel for the free shuttle. It took less than 10 minutes for it to arrive, and the hotel is very close by.

Check-in was fast and efficient, and although the hotel seemed quite busy that weekend because of all the people from the blues cruise we had a peaceful night's sleep.

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The next day we decided to rent a car, so we had to pay $15 for parking, which I didn't mind too much since I got a great deal on the room from lastminutetravel.

After a day of exploring Ft Lauderdale we returned to the hotel hot and thirsty. I asked someone at the front desk where I could buy water and he was very friendly and even offered me two complimentary bottles!

The hotel is very close to the airport and port everglades and not too far from the beaches and downtown Ft Lauderdale. I know I've read that it may be torn down due to expansion of the runways at FLL, but while it's still here I would recommend this hotel if you can get it at a good price. Otherwise, the Fairfield Inn down the street is a great bargain on lmt and offers a lot more bang for your buck!

“DUMP - DO NOT STAY HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This was the worst hotel that we have ever stayed at. They said that there is a shuttle to pick you up at the airport, we arrived around 8:00 pm on a Saturday night, and called for the shuttle. The shuttle never came, we were forced to use a taxi which cost $20.00. When we arrived at the hotel they said they only had a smoking room left, since we were tried and had already paid we took it. When we got to the room the TV did not work, we called down to the desk and told them this. They sent a guy to look at it, he then replaced it with another busted TV that the color was going on it, the remote in the room did not work with this TV. So he brought another TV, the same old model as the first TV that was busted. This one lasted for about an hour and a half. The only thing that this hotel did to make up for the inconvince was give us $15.00 coupons for the breakfast buffet. However, the buffet was $16.99, and the food was terrible. We are not difficult to please but we will NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER HILTON AGAIN.

Room Tip: Stay at the Courtyard Marrott, which is about the same distance from the Airport and the Cruise Port...
