We stayed here twice for one night each time, on either side of a business trip out of state. We checked in on a Saturday and the hotel was BUSY with cruiseship vacationers and airline crews mainly it seemed. The first room we were assigned absolutely reeked of mold and mildew, and although we thought we'd just try it for an hour or so (due to the fact that they were 100% booked that night), it proved to be just too overpowering. In addition, the room had a connecting door and when a family with a baby checked in next door, it was like they were in our room with us. When I called to ask about another room, the girl was friendly and wanted to assist, but clearly didn't have any room inventory. Long story short, they finally tracked down another room for us and, when I went to check that one out, it reeked of cigarette smoke. We resolved ourselves to staying in our moldy room for the night, but were relieved when we were contacted by guest service to say that a third room (albeit two double beds for my wife and I - but at that point we didn't care) was available - and thankfully was fine.
On our second stay, three days later, they had pre-checked the room for us that we would be staying in (due to the inconveniences we'd had on our first night), and we had no issues, the room was just fine.
Thankfully we didn't have to deal with any surly customer service as outlined in some of the other comments, and, while really frustrating as consumers, I will say that the staff did their best to resolve our complaints on the first stay and ensure that there were no issues on our second stay. I most definitely agree with some of the comments about the hotel being a bit run down. Having worked in the hotel business myself for a number of years, I would say that attention to detail items are not being picked up on. Just a few examples: The doors to the rooms seem scuffed up and in poor repair. Some of the caulking in the tubs is moldy and in need of replacement. The tired old 27" tube TV's are in dire need of updating. I was surprised at our experience, seeing as how I envision a particular type of product when I think of the Hilton brand - and this was not it. It is most definitely not a terrible hotel - but certainly not up to what I perceive to be Hilton standards.
Convenient location to the Fort Lauderdale airport, however, I would probably try a different property next time.
