We had a wonderful long weekend stay at the Pelican. Having traveled quite a bit, we understand sometimes things are not perfect. However when ever we brought something to the front desks attention it was done to our satisfaction. They were great and very very nice too. The food was very good. The location of right on the beach was awesome. I definitely would stay here again as well as recommending. The only recommendation is to have wi-fi in the rooms which I understand is coming.

The Pelican Grand is a lovely resort, and it is located on the ocean side of Ft. Lauderdale Beach. We stayed in a suite, which was spacious, and was tastefully decorated in "old-style" Florida (as is the resort). The Pelican Grand is family-friendly, complete with an ice-cream parlor/gift shop. There is a gorgeous verandah overlooking the ocean on the back side of the welcoming lobby. The staff is extremely friendly, there is free internet, and a terrific pool area. We had a most pleasant stay, and I hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean front room. The view is beautiful.

“Pelican Grand Beach Resort”

One of the very few Fort Lauderdale hotels right on the beach, the Pelican Grand is a wonderful place to stay. Our one single room with king bed with separate living room (with pullout bed) worked for three of us. Beautiful views from our 11th floor room. White rocking chairs on each floor and ground floor porch. Rooms were clean, spacious and quiet. Staff were great as were the restaurants. Downside: 1) valet parking only and they "prefer" to help with your bagage, 2) long walk or short drive to shops. Really enjoyed and recommend the Water Taxi tour a few blocks away. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed on 11th floor and loved it. I think it would be hard to go wrong on room selection.

Great Location RIGHT ON Beach. Friendly Staff. Rooms Huge and Clean. A Few Little Touches need Fixed/Updated (Paint, Wood at Reception). If these things were Improved hotel would jump from Good to Great in my Opinion. I Enjoyed my Stay and Would Return

“$3.00 Coffee to Start the Day - Turn Off!”

Little old fashion - beds are okay (at the most) - tvs are very old - no WIFI
P>S>: Good location: must go to this little Italian bakery a mile up the road near the HUSS Gas Station - near Blue Martini and other local attractions.

Dear Ajram,

Thank you for your review and your tips of local attractions when visiting the Pelican. You are correct that the décor of the hotel is very specific, in that it represents the Florida found back in the 50 and 60s. I am happy to say that we are working on solving the in-room Wifi, as the hotel was built to withstand a very strong hurricane with each room having 12” concrete walls and hurricane windows making it difficult to get signals into the room. This however, makes the rooms super quiet. As for our pricing I can assure you that it is consistent with other hotels and restaurants on the beach.
