Room was charged at $75/$83 with tax. I just got off a cruise ship and was seeking a room for the night prior to my morning flight. I was referred to the motel by a guy from starbucks a half a block away. I asked to look at a room prior to renting but they didn’t have one clean for me to see, that should have been the first hint. They said if I paid for the room in advance that I would be allowed to store my bags. I paid and they took me upstairs to put my bags in the room. Not just the rooms but the entire operation is severely dated in every aspect imaginable. The room looks to be furnished from a mediocre selection provided by little sisters for the poor donation barn, no closet only a rod with 3 hangars. The key only fit the door knob not the deadbolt so I couldn’t lock deadbolt from the outside. The chain on the inside didn’t work either. The windows sweat, the vertical blinds controls were barely operable (this is a $15 fix with a trip to home depot) The heat/air is provided by a wall unit (the face plate was connected with electrical wire twisted together) that didn’t blow hot air (something you don’t realize until night time when it’s cold and the office is closed- don’t expect a return call from the number your given to call for help-it’s more likely you’ll hit the lottery). The refrigerator doubles as the TV stand to the Daewoo 19 color tv circa 1980, the remote didn’t work. The cable tv wiring for 6 rooms was run along a wall from the floor through the ceiling in my room, it’s a powerful feeling knowing I control tv viewing others. There was nowhere to put your suitcase unless it’s on the furniture which ties up the space you would otherwise use for your personal items they are intended for. The tile floor was cold throughout, the bathroom had two towels that could double for sandpaper, not sure how they get every fiber stiff but they did exfoliate my skin when I dried with them. no hand towel or wash clothes. The water has a yellow hew, the bar of soap they provided were the size of a silver dollar. Despite the smell of bleach, It had an overall dirty feel. I was unsure if the sheets had been slept in previously. Two lamps had to have the knobs giggled until they would turn on. A frat house could use this as their base and it wouldn’t look much different after their spring break departure.
Pro’s are that you do have the feeling that you’re safer than sleeping on the beach with your luggage, less likely to get robbed, the motel is located across the street. If it rained, presumably we would be kept dry.
