“Couldn't get in our room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

We arrived late on Feb 10/(11 by then) at approx 1;00 pm- as arranged. however, there was no key left in the mailbox for us as arranged. There was a note on the door with my name on it, so obviously we were still expected, but there was no answer at the number listed. Finally got hold of someone at one of the other numbers listed, who also couldn't get us in because she had no key, and couldn't get a hold of the person with the key. She did come to meet us (greatly appreciated) and managed to check us in next door at the Martindale(same ownership). In the morning we were transferred out of the Martindale, into the room we had reserved. Just a curt sorry-"I wasn't on last night". I must say that it is not pleasant to be standing on the street corner in the middle of the night in a strange city, unable to get into your reserved room, when arrangements had been made ahead of time. At the very least, a reduced rate would have been in order. I must say it was a very dissappointing letdown to start our trip in the Ft.Lauderdale area.

Dear Guest -

We are terribly sorry for the experience you've had. Please believe me that this is not something that happens very often.

We hope you give us the opportunity to make up for our mistake should you come back to Fort Lauderdale for a visit. If so, please contact me prior for booking (see email).

Thank you.

“Private and Cozy”

The staff was extremely friendly when I checked in. My room was very clean and the enclosed pool was picture perfect.

Perfect location withing walking distance of everywhere I wanted to go.....mostly beach and restaurants. Fort Lauderdale beach is pristine....miles of white sandy shores.

Prices a bit high for jet ski rentals.

I plan on returning and staying longer.

“Nice and affordable”

We stayed at the Seaside Motel (same property as Sandy Hill) from Dec. 27th 2008 to January 7th 2008. This is a basic 2 floor motel with standard rooms and efficiencies. Our room had two double beds, a full kitchen, a walk-in closet. The swimming pool is heated. Location is perfect at the intersection of Bayshore and North Birch Road very close to the beach. Parking is free. Wireless internet is ok but sometimes out of order. The refrigerator broke down and we had to put our stuff in the freezer (which had fridge temperature...)and although someone came quickly to check it, it was not repaired before the end of our stay. The price was unbeatable and Ricki and Marie at the front desk were very nice and helpful.

This is a no frill place but if you ask for something they are going to do their best to help you. The mattresses were ok but not ultra comfortable. The maid does the basics, but if you ask her to do something specific, she'll do it. The place is quiet. If you're high maintenance, don't go there but get your money out and go to a luxury hotel. If you are not complicated and demanding, this is the best place to stay.
