“A most enjoyable experience”

My wife and I stayed for five days. The facilities (room, restaurant, pool, location) were excellent. Most importantly every person we encountered from the staff (front desk, bell captain, valet parking, housekeeping, restaurant servers, pool helpers, etc.) went out of their way to be pleasant and extremely helpful. They seemed to be genuinely interested in doing all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

“Best hotel on the beach..... Hilton has done it again”

Hotel staff was very friendly and met every need. Property was well maintained and 1st class. Stayed on the 23rd floor with a gorgeous view of the ocean & intercoastal. Have stayed at several Hilton Resorts over the past year and this one of the nicest.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room with a view of the ocean

“Treated Royally!!!”

As a travel agent, I spent endless hours searching for the perfect property for my stay in Ft Lauderdale. I hit the jackpot at this property. From the valet parking staff to the reception greeters, checkin staff, etc, this was a first class operation. Our room on the 14th floor was a beautiful view of the ocean and a bit of the intercoastal waterway. Gorgeous sunsets over the city. Richard Hess made sure our rooms were linked since we were using Honors points and had reservations under two different names. Not a problem. After we checked out, I realized I had left a pair of sandals under the bed. Again...not a problem. Housekeeping, security and Richard went to bat for me, found the sandals (even though someone had already rented our room). As soon as the shoes were located, I was contacted and they Fedex'd them to me. We agreed that in all our stays as Hilton owners we had never been treated so royally. Yes, parking IS expensive, but living in CA, I am used to paying much more if I am staying in San Francisco. We were always greeted with smiles. The staff and management could not have been nicer or more professional. I would stay here again without question. AND, will recommend this to my pre and post cruise clients.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony large enough to sit on. They all may be like ours was, but some hotels offer balco...

“Very disappointed!!!”

I have to agree with some of the latest poor reviews of this hotel. We stayed there recently in a private unit which was booked through a property rental company. The hotel is what some would term a "Condo hotel" meaning that they sell off some of their suites to private buyers. Sounds great, right? BE VERY CAREFUL. The Hilton staff are very hostile and do not want anything to do with private guests. This means that they do not want to help you at all and their attitude was "Why should we assist you? It is not in our interests". When we arrived, the unit smelled really bad. We discovered a large bag of dirty laundry that had not been removed. I had specifially asked the rental company if linens for the sleeper sofa were in the unit. I was assured that they would be, and if not, the hotel would supply them. This was far from the truth. There is no daily housekeeping but Hilton is paid a fee to clean the unit after each stay. When I asked housekeeping if they could remove the bag and give us fresh linens, they said there was nothing they could do! I ended up talking to one of the Managers, Richard, who turned out to be one of the rudest people I have ever met and acted as if he was doing us a huge favor, which in his eyes, he was! In the end, after much negotiation, they sent someone to remove the bag and I received sheets for the sofa but nothing else. My son spent 3 very cold nights on the sofa with limited bedding. Every attempt to ask the front desk even the simplest question, was met with hostility and indifference. Even the Director of Operations, who I ended up talking to, admitted that the way the hotel is set up is not perfect. I suggested that there needs to be a support system in place between the hotel, owners and third parties to assist private guests with their stay.Regardless, whether we are private guests or staying with Hilton, we are still on Hilton property and as such, private guests need to be treated with respect. If the owner of Unit 227 is reading this, take note. Despite being told it was "fully equipped" it really wasn't. Although there was a full kitchen it was not possible to do a great deal of cooking with limited tools. The furniture in the living room was not comfortable at all. The only positive were the beds were comfortble and the bathrooms were well appointed with great showers and a jacuzzi tub. We ended up leaving a day early because we were so disappointed. We would never stay there again, either as a private guest or as a hotel guest and Hilton needs to seriously review this property, as it does not represent their brand in a positive light.

Room Tip: If renting a private unit be VERY CAREFUL. Going directly through the owner may be better but the at...

“Beware of January 26th of any year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This is a beautiful property. I stayed on the 7th floor in a King Oceanview room. The "ocean view" is a stretch but yes, you could honestly see the ocean. Mostly you saw buildings unless you sat on the balcony just right. The front desk staff barely spoke English which always annoys me. Reservations are outsourced so you get no better information from them than you get on the internet. The rooms are beautiful. I was very much looking forward to the pool and here is where everything about my one night stay went wrong. I wish I would have been informed that January 26th is this Hilton's anniversary date. What that means is that every year on this date the pool area is transformed (including the hallways to it) for a special promotional party by invitation. What this means is hotel guests are not allowed at the pool area in the evening when the party starts at 7 p.m. and they are discouraged during the day while the party preparations are underway. In other words, forget the pool on January 26th. With little else to do on the property, that is a big drawback. I must say, however, that the following morning when Terry (a waiter at the restaurant) learned of my disappointment he went out of his way to make things better. If not for him I probably would not consider staying here again, but he reassured me that it was a one day only situation and for the little time I had remaining to my stay it seemed to hold promise as a nice facility. So I would recommend this hotel (but watch the pricing - it fluctuates greatly), but do not stay here on January 26th of any year.

Thank you for your review. Our Anniversary party on January 26, 2012, was celebrating our 5 year Anniversary; and is not an annual event. This was a one time celebration that included our local community leaders and clients. Our guests were allowed to be pool side through the day; the event started at 6 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience to our guests and hope they would understand this special event that was scheduled during evening hours. Thank you.
