Me: Wyndham 'Owner' who exchanged for this resort via RCI. A true 'Average' rating for the place. Not Excellent but not bad --- an 'oldie but a Goodie' would best describe the Coconut Bay Resort.
Pros: 1) Location, location, location! About a block from the beach, block from a shopping mall, reasonable drive to just about anywhere. 2) My unit was clean, smelled clean, carpeting/floor tiles/paint seem new in places. 3) Pool/hot tub were OK but the sun is blocked by neighboring residence high-rises, 4) staff friendly, 5) ample parking, 6) TVs in both rooms, basic kitchen setup. 7) I didn't bring a boat but you can park your boat on one of the neighboring channels that borders the place. ---- Overall, it's not the Ritz Carlton but I would have no problem staying here again.
Cons: 1) Some parts of my room showed age/wear and tear. For example, the ceiling tiles in my bathroom were worn/broken and are in need of an upgrade. Walls/doors had chips but were still functional. 2) Popcorn style ceilings. 3) Lack of cooking utensils such as baking pans/pizza pans. 4) No DVD or Blue Ray player, 5) No Wireless Internet unless you were lucky to pull in one bar from the complimentary 'free' wireless in the lobby (so 2002 in my opinion). 6) No washer/dryer but they did have a dish washer in the unit and coin-op laundry with reasonable reasonable prices. 7) Next to a fire station (it didn't bother me but I can see where this would bother some people in the middle of the night). 8) 'Free' morning doughnuts/coffee and free hot dog/soda Wednesday is an attempt to lure you into signing up for a timeshare presentation from the building operators. I didn't fall for it!
Overall:
This place is about fifty years old so I wasn't all that surprised at some of the wear and tare in my room. In my opinion, most (not all) of the people who complain on previous post probably are the type that spend their entire week inside the unit (24/7) versus going outside, going to the beach, exploring southern Florida, etc. For the most part, the place was clean, felt secure, and I would have no problem coming back. Some units may be different than others and some units have people living there year round. After stating 'no' via phone to the person who wanted me to attend a timeshare presentation, I wasn't bothered again. I would have no problem staying here again with family or as a solo traveler but I wouldn't suggest this place for a romantic getaway.
Room Tip: There is a great State Park across the street! Call resort before hand to confirm what you're...
