I was very excited to stay at the Gigi's resort displayed on the website. When we arrived I quickly learned that this was not the "resort" I paid for.
The first thing the young female manager asked us when we arrived was for our credit card. She made it clear that this is "NON-REFUNDABLE" and asked for payment immediately. We found this a bit odd as we had not seen the room yet, but she went on and on that this was standard custom in Florida. When we got to our room (Nairobi) we found a moldy shower curtain, a vent with no cover and a free standing lamp with a bulb but no shade. That was when we understood NON-REFUNDABLE and realized we were stuck. We figured that things could only go up from here, but we were wrong.
I woke up in the morning with B&B on my mind and headed to get breakfast. I found a half package of bagels that were soggy from being in the freezer laying on the table next to half frozen packaged pop tarts. I mentioned this to the female manager and she went on and on about how they need to freeze things in Florida and that all I had to do was put my bagel in the toaster and it woud be fine. in addition she offered me individual packages of cereal and talked about how the chain hotels cereal is contanimated in the big containers so that individual is better (obviously "pitching" Gigi's choice on cereal). Interestingly enough while she is going on and on about contaminated cereal she offers milk out of a gallon that is almost empty and expired the next day. That was the last breakfast we attempted to have at Gigi's. Bed and Breakfast is NOT the case.
Later that evening we came back to the room and had no electricity. We called management and instead of coming to help, they directed us to find the fuse box and turn the power back on. The manager (male this time) then went on to say that someone used a hair dryer downstairs which is why we didn't have power. ENOUGH with the excuses is what we were thinking!
The bed! OMG the bed. It was springy and bouncy... I woke up each morning having rolled to the middle of the bed. And what they call "fine linen" on the website is nothing more than cheap sheets that don't stay on the bed. Awful.
When we checked out we tried to again explain what the situation was, however the female manager and the owner (I think...) talked over us with a million excuses. They blamed us for the power outage (even though we were not on site at the time), and said they had never had complaints before (reading these reviews I doubt that). The female manager then stated that we were only complaining because we were miserable people. At that point we just left and will be following up in addition to this review.
I do have to say the location is beautiful. Directly between the ocean and the waterways... however there are MANY places to stay in the area. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
