I was very excited to stay at the Gigi's resort displayed on the website. When we arrived I quickly learned that this was not the "resort" I paid for.

The first thing the young female manager asked us when we arrived was for our credit card. She made it clear that this is "NON-REFUNDABLE" and asked for payment immediately. We found this a bit odd as we had not seen the room yet, but she went on and on that this was standard custom in Florida. When we got to our room (Nairobi) we found a moldy shower curtain, a vent with no cover and a free standing lamp with a bulb but no shade. That was when we understood NON-REFUNDABLE and realized we were stuck. We figured that things could only go up from here, but we were wrong.

I woke up in the morning with B&B on my mind and headed to get breakfast. I found a half package of bagels that were soggy from being in the freezer laying on the table next to half frozen packaged pop tarts. I mentioned this to the female manager and she went on and on about how they need to freeze things in Florida and that all I had to do was put my bagel in the toaster and it woud be fine. in addition she offered me individual packages of cereal and talked about how the chain hotels cereal is contanimated in the big containers so that individual is better (obviously "pitching" Gigi's choice on cereal). Interestingly enough while she is going on and on about contaminated cereal she offers milk out of a gallon that is almost empty and expired the next day. That was the last breakfast we attempted to have at Gigi's. Bed and Breakfast is NOT the case.

Later that evening we came back to the room and had no electricity. We called management and instead of coming to help, they directed us to find the fuse box and turn the power back on. The manager (male this time) then went on to say that someone used a hair dryer downstairs which is why we didn't have power. ENOUGH with the excuses is what we were thinking!

The bed! OMG the bed. It was springy and bouncy... I woke up each morning having rolled to the middle of the bed. And what they call "fine linen" on the website is nothing more than cheap sheets that don't stay on the bed. Awful.

When we checked out we tried to again explain what the situation was, however the female manager and the owner (I think...) talked over us with a million excuses. They blamed us for the power outage (even though we were not on site at the time), and said they had never had complaints before (reading these reviews I doubt that). The female manager then stated that we were only complaining because we were miserable people. At that point we just left and will be following up in addition to this review.

I do have to say the location is beautiful. Directly between the ocean and the waterways... however there are MANY places to stay in the area. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

“No resort, more like a youth hostel”

I planned a trip to Ft. Lauderdale to celebrate my husband's birthday and was looking for a romantic place close to the beach. I had great experiences at bed and breakfasts before, so I was excited to find something so close to the beach. Unfortunately, that was about the only positive thing about the entire stay.
We stayed in the Paris room and found out a pane of the window broken, linens that were substandard, and a pretty dismal room overall. The so-called breakfast was a joke. Good thing I have urbanspoon on my phone so that I could find a decent place to eat.

“Shouldn't be called a resort”

My husband and I found this place on a search for B&Bs, and unfortunately we were not impressed. The building is quite old, and though it has been fixed up, it still just feels old. There were about five/six free parking places for the whole place; we had to pay to park across the street. We stayed in the Nairobi room, and the advertised "cozy seating area" consisted of two fairly uncomfortable chairs on different walls of the room with a coffee table too far from either to be useful. There were light bulbs missing in the bathroom and a decorative tissue box with no tissues in it. Breakfast was supposed to be coffee/juice/muffins but we didn't stay around to see how it was. We asked the proprietor for a recommendation of a place to eat breakfast, and he told us about "The Floridian," a somewhat historic diner that served us a breakfast we really enjoyed. The pictures make it look really nice, but one should remember that you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a resort or a B&B, pay a bit more or you'll be disappointed.

The service was terrible from the minute we arrived. the room was a dump, and the lighting was terrible. there was never anyone in the office and the so-called continental breakfast was a joke. my friend and i laughed our self to death on that one.lol. the only bright side was that the so-called beach resort was just a walking distance from the beach. the affordable price for the room was not worth it. i would not recommend this place to anyone.

ps
the mosquito situation was horrible, my friend and i left that place anemic.

“HONEST Review to FOLLOW....”

#1. accommodations are in a terrific location.
#2. Manny the manager, the gentleman who is part owner, and the one young lady that gave my
husband and I extra towels were very kind and personable.
I have to be honest, however:
My husband and I stayed in the PARIS room.
The window was OPEN slightly and was UNABLE to be shut from the inside of the
room. Due to the unseasonably cold weather February, 2010, it was a little bit cold
in the room.
The bedside lamp did NOT have a light bulb in it.
There were NO glasses in the room....makes it difficult to take prescribed
medication.
Truthfully, the mattress needs to be replaced for the full comfort of the
guests. It is NOISY and if there are 2 people in the bed, you roll into the
middle of the bed.
When trying to close the window, we did find the finial to the curtain rod
that was missing. It was in the window sill.
We took FULL RESPONSIBILITY for the loss of the room key; my husband went in
the ocean with it in his pocket, however, we telephoned from the guest phone by
the office at 3:01PM on Friday and the young lady did not arrive to provide us
with another room key until 4:00. We did have to phone twice and the gentlemen
was unaware that the lady had not arrived within 10 to 15 minutes as he had
indicated she would. She did say that she got stuck on the bridge.
The property/grounds was in need of care; broken plant pots should be
disposed of, the old mop beside the back patio should be tossed and the broken
windows should be replaced IF it is the desire of the owners for the property to
be pleasing to the eye of its guests.
I would love to have the opportunity to OWN such accommodations. It has
tremendous potential for REPEAT business due to the location. I would tidy up
the exterior grounds, power wash the stone pavers and redecorate the rooms(could
be done inexpensively but tastefully) and give more attention to details
(missing bulbs, missing drinking glasses etc.)
