“Beautiful grounds and modern, attractive rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Not quite a 'resort', but a very high end look and feel and professional staff.
~ The grounds are well planted and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are $200 plus. Our room was modern, classy and clean and we looked at several friends' rooms which were equally nice.
~ We'd requested a quiet room (in the spa courtyard), since we thought it might be too noisey in the area where all the rooms face the pool. It was pretty quiet except for one night from guys in the hot tub....
~ The continental breakfast is good with a juices, coffee and tea (decaf upon request), a variety of cereals, apples and bananas, muffins, bagels and yogurt. They place soft music in the morning (thank goodness!) and during the day a variety of music, again at a reasonable volume. (as opposed to non-stop 9 am-9pm loud disco by the pools in some other gay resorts...)
~ The whole place is well kept and we thought worth the money. There are many gay places in Ft Lauderdale that are much cheaper, but some of them allow 'day passes' and get a few unsavory day trippers.......
~ My only complaint is the beds and noise from the A/C. The beds are VERY FIRM. I’m a side sleeper and so is my partner. The place was quiet and the sound from the A/C was pretty loud (at least to me....) We didn’t sleep very well during our stay. Others we met there also thought the beds were firm too, but said that didn’t mind them and slept well.
~ Worth the extra bucks for the deco, grounds, free wifi, sleek furniture and welcoming, friendly service from the staff. (I’d give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the hard beds....)

Room Tip: The spa area is supposed to be quieter, but you can hear chatter if there are groups in the hot tub.

“Good, but "Grand" and "Resort" seem to be words that are a bit of a stretch”

I stayed here about ten years ago, and needed to be in the area for a family event. At the last minute, I was able to secure a two-night stay, here. The folks were friendly, pleasant, and the rates were quite fair and competitive. The room was adequate, and certainly clean. The pool was tidy and pleasant, and the hot tub area was also fairly pristine. HOWEVER, when my room was cleaned, for some reason, the hotel service neglected to pick up some breakfast dishes from hours earlier. So, with a newly made bed, etc, there was this morning's coffee still left sitting on the table. Why? Also, sound travels freely between the walls, and from outside. So, you easily can hear "activities" going on next door, not to mention the many folks coming in and out of their rooms.

Again, the place is good, and certainly pleasant. But I couldn't give it five stars, nor would I describe this place as grand, or frankly as a resort.

“Treated like royalty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This place has it all. It's super clean, well-managed by a supremely competent staff, and fairly priced for all the amenities it offers. Perfect location a couple of blocks to the beach, spacious rooms, top-notch. Nicet touch: fresh lemonade or iced tea with fresh blueberries all day long.

“Nice relaxing visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

The Grand is a nice resort with large rooms and a very helpful staff. Having the Spa on site is a major plus. Happy hour was well appointed, however it was somewhat disappointing that it was not better attended.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of the property near the Spa are quieter.

“Great relaxing place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011 via mobile

PROS:
1) great landscaping
2) great staff
3) gym
4) wifi
5) relaxing atmosphere
6) private gym shower so you can hang out at pool & shower before your late flight

CONS:
1) too quite in some sense
2) cheaper room have mildew

OVERALL:
I stayed over thanksgiving weekend. I enjoyed my very relaxing stay. Happy hour was nice. The gym was enough to maintain ( but who goes to gym for a heavy workout on vacation ). I stayed in the cheapest room & the bathroom had some mildew, but other rooms I looked at look like they didn't have this problem. The staff was very friendly. The Grand Resort is great place for couples & singles a like that want a relaxing vacation. Also the rooms were priced reasonably.

VIBE FACTOR ( action factor ) = 5
1 =cold fish
5 =simmering beneath the surface
10=hot dark room at the Eagle
Of course the guest change in and out every week, so that could change the vibe on any given week. If you are looking for hot anon hook ups, then the grand is probably not your place.
