We have stayed at several hotels in Ft. Lauderdale over the years, settling in for the most part at Pineapple Point, but for this trip we thought we would try the new hotel in town. In fact, one of the best features of this hotel is that it is new and everything looks great and is in very good condition. The stark white modern design creates a stylish and fun environment.
Overall we were very happy with our visit. We stayed in a supreme king room which was a spacious corner room with windows overlooking a hotel courtyard and a street. The room décor was very modern, all white with a few splashes of orange, and a gray tiled floor. The bathroom was a small windowed room with a large rain shower. The sink was outside the bathroom in a large alcove that included an open closet area, exposed safe, and a refrigerator. We did not like the look of this area with everything out in the open, and the refrigerator just sitting on the floor. This open area cheapened the look of the room a little bit. Nice sheer curtains covered the long bedroom window and soft lighting created a cozy atmosphere at night.
The hotel consists of two buildings in a motel like setting, which means most of the rooms have windows looking out onto walkways and courtyards. Some rooms also look into walls, and many do not get direct sunlight as they face north. The hotel is large enough that you may be able to switch rooms if you are not happy with your location. Our room was one of the few rooms that did not have a window facing the walkways which let us keep our curtains open more often, while still maintaining privacy. We were also on the first floor and could hear the person above us walking around. The noise did not bother us, but you may not be as lucky.
The hotel’s two pools offered two great options. The front pool is the social hangout pool with some sexy looking cabanas for added atmosphere. It was also very warm. The larger back pool is the quiet relaxing pool which was also cooler and good for swimming laps. The spa is small but nice, and offers a full range of treatments. The gym is also small, but has the basics needed to get a workout done and is located in a windowed room.
We enjoyed a good breakfast at the hotel. It was a nice treat to have a full service restaurant and bar available to you if you just want to hangout and do not want to leave the hotel. The beach, however, is just two blocks away, so that makes it convenient to walk over for some fun. A few new bikes are also available for your use. For the most part, service was good and friendly.
Overall, we thought the hotel is a nice new addition to Ft. Lauderdale. Our only comment would be that the hotel offers no free extra amenities such as bottled water, sodas, snacks, or a complimentary happy hour. Those extra treats help make stays at boutique hotels like this special, and some kind of combination of free amenities is offered at most of the other gay hotels. Without some of them, this is a hotel where you check in, pay for everything, and leave, just like standard hotels. It would be nice if they offered something, even if the rates went up a little, which by the way, we thought were reasonable.
We have always enjoyed our time at Pineapple Point, but when we return we will have a tough choice to make between these two good but very different hotels that each have their own pluses and a few minuses.
Room Tip: Supreme king rooms are larger and some are on corners. A second floor room might be a wiser option.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We are grateful for your recent visit with us here at The RP. Our guests love the sleek, modern decor of the resort. We appreciate your observation regarding the location of the safe and refrigerator. It is always helpful for guests to give us their opinions so that we can continue to create a one of a kind product for you to enjoy during your time in Fort Lauderdale.
Most hotel/motel architecture during the mid-century took on an open courtyard look as with our two buildings. One of our goals as we grow North Beach Village is to preserve as much of the original architecture and look as possible while updating the amenities and services provided. The rear building faces north, but the front building has an eastern exposure just blocks from the world famous Fort Lauderdale beach. We do apologize if you were inconvenienced by the sound of the guest above you and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We will look into remedies as quickly as possible.
Our two pools offer an array of atmospheres for our guests. The front pool, which is clothing optional, is slightly warmer and provides a great gathering place for our guests. The larger pool is in the rear building and is excellent for doing laps or simply relaxing in the afternoon sun. Our spa offers an extensive offering of incomparable services.
Our full service bar and grill offers the best breakfast on the beach, lunch offerings are always enjoyed by our guests and our dinner menu is beyond compare. Soon, you will even get to enjoy our new Plaza Bistro, an al fresco Italian dining experience just steps out our front door. Watch for it to open later this month.
When we moved into our new home almost a year ago, we ushered in a new era of gay travel, the full service gay hotel. We sincerely hope you continue to enjoy the amenities we offer to our guests, bicycle rentals, I Pad rentals, Movie Night, Pool Parties, Theme nights, Dinner Shows each week, there is always something to do at The RP. We hope that on your next visit you will take advantage of the many amenities available to our guests.
We know you have a choice when you travel and are honored that you choose The RP. Until we see you again, please accept our wishes for safe travels.
