“Highly recommended!”

We stayed here a few years ago - and we´ll always remember that stay! A beautifully wellkept small accomodation, exactly what you expect for a relaxing holiday - within reach of everything Florida has to offer. Our only problem is that we made some friends at our first visit to Florida, and nowadays we stay with them - so we haven´t had the opportunity to return to Green Island Inn, but we sure would like to!

“We had a wonderful time”

We stayed at the Green Island for about 5 days and had a wonderful time. The rooms are nice, clean, quiet and fairly large. We spent a lot of time around the lovely pool area which is very tropical. The hotel is close to the beach, dining, shopping and entertainment. We plan on returning there in the fall for a week.

“Great Place To Stay!”

A very nice place to stay!

My wife and I spent a week at this Inn last year (October 2003) and we enjoyed every minute of our stay there. The guy that runs the place (sorry forgot his name) is very nice and accommodating. He really made us feel at home during our stay. The housekeeping was very good, the rooms very clean. The pool was very clean and not heavily used while we stayed there, so we where able to spend some quite time in the pool. The grounds are very tropical and lush which made sitting outside very pleasant. We only had a short 1 block walk to the beach. The only drawback was crossing the main hwy A-1A during the day, but really was not all that bad. The beach was really nice and not over crowed during our stay. We really didn’t need to drive much as everything was in walking distance. Also we could catch the local shuttle bus which takes you to all the local shopping centers. Also I would recommend using the water taxi as it is a nice ride on the inter-coastal waterway. The water taxi goes to all the popular spots and to the downtown area as well. The only bad experience we had during our trip was at the local fishing piers
in town. My wife and I enjoy night fishing and we went to the local piers at around 10:00 pm and encountered open drug use and drinking, which turned us off. We did find a nice family type fishing pier at Deer Field Beach and really enjoyed fishing there. Also I highly recommend the Cuban Restaurant off of Las Olas Blvd in the shopping center across the bridge from A-1A. The name of the place is Los Vegas Cuban, really great food! I would go back to the Green Island Inn in a heartbeat!!!

“A Lovely Time in Fort Lauderdale- Beautiful Cozy Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2004

I just returned from a week vacation with my 14 year old son and wanted to let you know about some relaxing, old time Florida spots we found. We stayed at the Green Island Inn which is one of the Superior Small Lodgings, and loved it. It is a cozy little spot on the far north side of Fort Lauderdale, just a block from the beach (a very quiet clean section of the beach). If you are looking for the Florida that you remember from childhood, this is it! Cozy, clean, incredibly landscaped, quiet, just absolutely lovely. Lots of guests were from Europe at the time we were there. I highly recommend this inn for those who do not like the large hotel chains and want a more intimate inn atmosphere.
We didn't rent a car and took the Water Bus everywhere. It takes you all up and down the beach area, to the shopping district along Las Olas, and if you buy the A&E pass you get 7 days of water bus service and passes to museums and attractions.
Make sure you visit Bonnett House- the home of 2 artists on 35 gorgeous acres. The water bus runs from about 10:00 am to midnight- fun for a late night cruise up and down the intercostal to see what the folks are up to in their multi-million dollar mansions that line the intercostal waterway. There are stops close to the new Galleria Mall, and Wild Oats is just across the street from the mall so you can grocery shop and ride the water bus home.
I highly recommend the area for a relaxing Florida vacation.
