“Still the Best”

My partner and I just returned from a week stay at the Dunes. It's our favorite guest house in Ft Lauderdale and were very concerned when we found out the property has recently changed hands. The great news is everything has stayed the same plus upgrades to the bedding and towels. We requested room #5 which is a suite overlooking the pool and spa on the ground floor, A very spacious room with a king bed and kitchenette. The grounds are lush and tropical and the pool and spa are very inviting and clothing optional. Ken and Kevin took great care of us and supplied us with beach chairs and an umbrella which we used every day at Haulover Beach. The resort is close to all the attractions in Ft. Lauderdale. We would highly recommend the Dunes to everyone. We hope that the new owners keep the Dunes just as it is today! A good place for Happy Hour is the Blue Martini at the Galleria Mall. Half off on all drinks and great deals on food with an upscale atmosphere. Another great find was The Whole Enchilada on N Federal Highway, the best fish tacos anywhere.

“Still Our Favorite”

We are enjoying another visit here now and we were surprised to learn that the property recently changed ownership and is seeking a new moniker. We are delighted to find that nothing has changed at our favorite South Florida accomodation. Our spacious studio is pristinely kept, the grounds and pool area are even more lushly landscaped than ever. Ken is our extroverted, perpetually smiling and helpful host. It's comforting to know that we, as well as the frequent devoted and friendly guests, can look forward to many happy returns to this private, intimate and relaxing place.

“A very pleasant surprise”

I wasn't very comfortable reaching out to a business that has their website down with only an email address and no other information. Glad I did. After exchanging a couple of emails my room was booked and got an excellent price. The place is spotless, rooms are very comfortable, nice swimming pool area and only 3 blocks from the beach. This is not a place if you are looking for a wild time inside your resort as a lot of couples go there and it is quite calm, but if you are looking for a good relaxing time hey, look no further. Ken and Kevin are just wonderful guys that will give you all the information you need to make your stay more enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask if you can get a late check-out.

“Paradise Found...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2009

Where to begin with this place? How about here: FABULOUS! Tucked away a very short walk from the beach, the Dunes Guest House was really "another world". Surrounded by palm trees, totally hidden from the outside, the setting reminded me of St. Marteen.

One of the friendliest staffs I've encountered in a long time, and the daily room cleaning, etc. at this 10 room establishment was nothing short of superb. There are rooms and "king studios". I had the studio and it was Huge (complete with full kitchen) and the off-season price was ridiculously low ($99 per night).

Great continental breakfast (al fresco, of course) each day with pastries, bagles, cereal, hard bolied eggs, milk, juice, etc. etc. etc.

The clothing optional pool and hot tub was wildly popular (no doubt!) with a very diverse group of men. I was travelling with 3 friends (from DC) and left having made a slew of new friends. Very very nice, personable crowd.

Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Do not Miss Primanti Bros'. Pizza! Best I've Ever had.

The gay area (Wilton Manors) is a 10 minute car/cab ride and is a blast. Hands down favorite bars were Bill's Filling Station and George's Alibi. Neither are to be missed.

I'm already planning another trip and will absolutely unload my bags at the Dunes Guest House. Trust me....It's da Bomb!

The Dunes was an oustanding guesthouse! I was very pleased with my recent visit. The Staff was extremely nice and very attentive to details. Rooms were very spacious and super-clean and the grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. The jacuzzi and pool were heated just right and clean. The Dunes provided a great continental breakfast with lots of choices. Staff had greatt suggestions for things to do in the area and the location was perfect as I could walk to the beach.
I would highly recommend The Dunes if you are looking for a smalller resort with superb service.
