I stayed here for the first time in 2004 under the former owners.
It was so great I wanted to come back in October for the film festival. I made a reservation but cancelled because I couldn't make it.
I came back in May 2006. I stayed in the same room. The biggest room they have.
For starters, there was dog hair all over the room, in the living room, on the couch, IN THE BED.
I immediately asked for new sheets and a quick cleaning.
The trash was never removed, and the shower didn't work for the 3 days I stayed there.
The pool was green and not being attended to.
I was given the use of a room downstairs for the shower.
The SHOWER DOOR FELL OFF & ALMOST SLICED MY TOE OFF.
THERE WAS BLOOD EVERYWHERE...
IT REQUIRED A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL THE DAY I WAS LEAVING.
I COULDN'T WALK FOR 2 WEEKS.
I left a detailed account of what happenned with the day staff.
I sent a follow up letter requesting some form of compensation that was never answered.
The location is very secluded and it does'nt look like a B & B.
It also seem to be a place where couples with money come for affairs.
The upstairs rooms are in the trees and the jacuzzi is very private.
I noticed this type of activity both times I was here.
Didn't bother me however, not a place you want to bring your kids.

Hopefully this place will be sold and restored by owners who care.

Something terrible must have happened here...we had reservations for 2 nights, but checked out after one. The website showed a lovely, intimate little inn, when in reality, the room was dingy, not to mention that it was on the second floor, when I had told the innkeeper when I made the reservations that I had recently had a hip replacement and couldn't go up stairs. The plants were dying, the pool uninviting, paint peeling, ceiling fans on the balcony were broken off, cigarette butts piled on the balcony, umbrellas outside were broken etc. When we went down for breakfast, the building was locked. It appeared we were the only ones there! We had no towels at all and the night person didn't seem to happy to receive our call about it either. He left the towels outside the room and didn't even knock to let us know. We waited up for over an hour to get the towels. It was 1:30 am when we looked outside the door and found them. Guess we'd have been better off without them because the shower door fell off when my husband tried to close it! This is probably the worst experience I've had with a room in my 58 years! When I called the innkeeper to tell me we were leaving and the reasons we were doing so, all he said was "oh, Jesus". No apology. Nothing.

I stayed at the Villa in March and loved the quiet atmosphere. The new owners were very nice and accomedating and the room looked newly remodeled with crown molding and wood floors. The breakfast did leave room for improvement although the manager appologized and informed me that the county had pretty strict rules about what could be made available. There were several palm trees that were missing their leaves but the entire city still looked pretty battered after the hurricanes. I really enjoyed the privacy both by the pool and in the upstairs jacuzzi and when I wanted something different I just walked to the beach. Next time I stay there, I'd like to stay in one of the upstairs rooms so I can have a view of the intercoastal. I've stayed at several hotels in Fort Lauderdale and Villa Montfiallo is diffenetly one of the best!

We stayed at the Montfiallo in March (2006). If you visit their website before going, you won't believe your eyes! "Buyer beware!"

The Montfiallo website was obviously created, prior to 2004 (since we have seen no positive online reviews after 2003). It's amazing how quickly things can go downhill in such short time!

The concrete pool was uninviting with numerous surrounding cracks & chips. It wasn't even properly , vacuumed, until our second day there.

The "breakfast" was a joke. The coffee was like mud. It was offered in the small office area, which was unkept and smelled from the dog.

The grounds were littered with garbage. Although the room was clean, it smelled (to us) like bug spray.
