“Takes reservations, can't keep a reservation”

I made a reservation to stay here about 1 month in advance of my trip. Their website says late night arrivals are okay. I informed them of this when making my reservation to make sure it would not be a problem. I called the day we were leaving for our trip to confirm the reservation and remind them of our late arrival. When we arrived we were told they had never heard of us, that we had the wrong place (even though I had the correct phone number in my cell phone and had spoken to someone earlier in the day) and they had no room anyway.

This may be a fine place to stay but have a backup plan when you make a reservation here.

“Stay somewhere else.”

This hostel is OK...there are quite a few rules here, e.g., there is a sign on our sink saying, "If you leave any dirty dishes overnight, you won't get breakfast in the morning." I don't plan to leave dirty dishes, but the sign is oppressive. The staff here is abrupt, as are a few of the guests...not many travelers here...about half and half travelers and Americans. There are absolutely no cooking utensils. I saw one small skillet and very few dishes. No forks, knives, or spoons here at all. The rooms are clean enough, but the shower is so small it is difficult to turn around to get water on your back. There is a private room attached to our dorm, so the number of people passing through the door is (potentially) 8, and we all share the same bathroom facilities. There is construction going on, the wifi is non-existent except in the middle of the courtyard. Just a very overrated place to stay. Access to the beach is excellent, but it's a good walk to any kind of store...better to take the bus. Overall, given a choice, I'd stay somewhere else.
