The Coral Reef is a very well maintained, friendly resort catering to a gay male clientele. The grounds were meticulously tended to and the recently renovated rooms were beautiful. The owner and assistant were extremely personable and accommodating. Having never stayed in Ft. Lauderdale before, their willingness to assist us with discovering the local hot spots and restaurants proved valuable. The Coral reef is a little off the beaten track, in a quiet residential area but is at most a 10 minute drive to the local nightlife. If you are looking for a classy, relaxing getaway with excellent, professional and friendly service, Coral Reef should be among your considerations.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days after our Chumley cear cruise. We had a delightful time! We had never heard of this guesthouse before.

The 8 or so units are arranged around a pool/hottub, and there is a central kitchen where they serve breakfast. Very private and quiet, although when we were there, the building next door had a lot of construction noise during the day. But that's no fault of the Coral guys.

The owner Wayne was away for most of our time here, but Bobby the asst manager took very good care of us. He even personally drove me to the nearby Publix to pick up some beer and snacks for our stay. He was always available and eager to please-- he even let me commandeer the music lineup for an evening. As a music geek, that made me very happy.

The rooms are either currently being updated, or already have been. Ours had a new glass-bricked shower, with a ceiling ranshower head... heavenly.

Next time we'll skip the cruise and just stay here! And we will explore the nearby beaches and attractions (we did not have a car this time).

Nice little hotel with all you really need right there. The service was OUTSTANDING. Would stay here again without hasitation.

I have been staying at the Coral Reef Guesthouse once or twice a year. My recent stay in May 2011 (I think my 4th or 5th visit) was just like it has always been -- relaxing, quiet with personable staff and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and clean. A small continental breakfast satisfying enough in the early morning with access to snacks, drinks, etc.

Pros: Friendly and very personable attention from every staff member. I like the size of the Coral Reef Guesthouse -- 8 nicely appointed rooms -- perfect for those who don't need all the "hoopla" that other gay guesthouses have. The jacuzzi and pool are big enough to accommodate the resort. Most of the guests are very considerate and usually quite -- important to me as I escape to Ft. Lauderdale to remove myself from the stress and busy city of Washington, DC.

Cons: A breakfast with more choices. They used to have free sodas, beer, and wine available 24/7 -- so I hope that comes back. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that not up to par.
