“It was a lot better than the other one we paid for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

We got back from Cruising in luxury and being treated like royalty on the Carnival Freedom so were a little harder to please than before the trip, but after trying to stay at the travelodge (a real dump) up the road this place was a dream come true. As soon as we checked in (really early because that is when the cruise ship came in) they were very accomodating and willing to please. The rooms were decently clean and connected for the family. It was nice to have the view out the back and the balcony at the front. Casey's Bar and Grill had excellent food and good service. It was Superbowl day so there was a little extra noise from the bar that evening, but nothing unexpected and we all slept fine that night. The cost was less than booking the travelodge dump over the net, and a hundred times better.

“Ok if you are on a budget…”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2010

Let me start by saying that I ended up staying in this hotel by mistake. I knew what hotel I wanted to stay at, so I went on Hotels.com to see if it was available for a low price. I originally wanted to stay in the Beach PLACE hotel, not the Beach PALACE hotel…so you can see where I made the mistake. I read good reviews about the Beach PLACE hotel and I wanted to stay there, so naturally when I realized that I made the mistake I called Hotels.com to see if I could change it for around the same price. They were willing to work with me, but it appears as if the Beach PLACE hotel wasn’t even in their database. I guess I got too excited when booking and didn’t pay close attention.
Ok, I was only going to be staying there 1 day before our cruise so I figured I could just deal with it. This hotel has no shuttle service, only a car service (that is freaking ridiculously expensive), so I just took a cab. It was a cab share type of deal, so I had to share with 2 other people. I was lucky that this hotel was the first stop.
I go up to the desk to check in and the lady seems to be unorganized and she cannot find my reservation. Thank god I prepare when I travel on all accounts and had all of the information printed out and highlighted in a folder so that I could show her the info. She takes the documents and prints out a copy for herself. Ok, so now we have established that I prepaid for a room here. Then she tells me there is a $30 deposit that has to be paid upfront in addition to the cost of the room just in case any damage is left to the rooms at checkout. I told her I was unaware of any such deposit, but she insisted that everyone that stays there have to pay it. I guess I had no choice.
The elevators are slow but they get the job done. The rooms are what you would expect for a 1 star. Very basic and no frills but I will say that it was clean. There were no bed bugs, and the bathroom was very clean. There is a nice balcony with a chair, and the air conditioning worked nicely. The beds are not luxurious, but they are ok. There seems to be a towel shortage at this hotel. I had to ask for extra towels because there wasn’t enough. He brings back one towel and I told him “Ok-can I have a wash cloth to go with it?” He had to go get that too. Those towels could also stand to use a little fabric softener. I felt like they were ripping my skin they were so rough.
The restaurant at the hotel called “Our Friend’s Place” was a very cool place to hang out and have a drink and watch the game. The food was really good and affordable. I was able to get a whole rack of ribs and a baked potato platter for $9.99! The ribs were very tender and perfectly cooked. Everything on the menu is affordable and the staff is very friendly.
This was not my first choice for a hotel, and I would only want to stay one day, but I can honestly say that it wasn’t that bad. I made sure that I took photos of the room right when we got there so they didn’t try keep my $30. I didn’t have to use the pics, they send someone up to your room to look it over before they give you your money back, and the deposit was refunded back.
Like I said, I probably won’t ever stay there again if I can help it, but if you are on a budget I think it is a decent place to stay.

“Look for another hotel, this is not worth a PENNY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2010

This is definitely not a family hotel, throw my stay I’ve seen drug dealers, prostitutes doing their business right there staying at the hotel for weeks! And the Kentucky trash coming to Florida for drugs. For those who don’t now, Kentuckians going out of state to get prescriptions from doctors, primarily for pain pills, then bringing the pills back to sell and abuse. From what I’ve overheard from other guests they do return to the hotel on regular basis, the front desk person was asking the guest for drugs and while the FD person was having a good time having drinks and smoking cigarettes he asked one of the guest to answer the phone, because he was to busy??? From what I’ve seen the front desk gentleman does not have any communicational skills, is very rood and is rarely seen at front desk. The manager so called Penny, has no idea how to run a hotel, or now how to treat the guest.
To the hotel: Its old, rooms are clean but smelly, mildew everywhere. Seems like the 3d floor is the best to stay at and definitely the south side. On the north side is the bar, which has loud music all night. 1st and 2nd floor rooms on the north side are all trashy, furniture has holes in there, so the sheets and bad covers. And towels, well, if you decide to stay at this hotel after reading this, you better bring your owns. For a room with 2 dbl beds which can accommodate 4 people has only 2 big (small) towels, 1 hand towel and 1 wash rag. And if you go to front desk to ask for some more, they don’t give you because they don’t have any extra left. The pool is cold, the beach is 10 minutes walk, if you have kids and beach stuff to carry, than you want be happy about it, and not to forget he internet - signal reach only only the 1st floor, rooms above the lobby. I don` t know where did they get the name for this hotel its far from the beach and definitely not a palace!

“DO NOT STAY HERE! THE STAFF WILL NOT HELP U WITH ANYTHING”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2009

This hotel is awful! The manager, Baboo (his real name) tries to raise the price per night if you haven't already reserved your room. The maid never came to clean our room, and we didn't have any clean towels. We told the manager our room wasn't cleaned, and we had no towels. He told us he couldn't give us any towels, and didn't have the key to the supply room. The people staying above us were so loud, at 2AM, we complained again to the manager, who did nothing. We had to call the police. Carpets aren't vacummed, the hot water runs out fast and get cold very quickly. The elevator is very slow and doesn't work half of the time, and no one speaks english. No shower heads.... there are no shower heads in any of the rooms. So, the water sprays out very hard and it stings your skin. The AC doesn't work well, and the bath tubs leak, there'e never a remote in the room-u have to go downstairs to get one. The only good thing I can say about this motel is the restaurant downstairs is delicious, and most of the bartenders are cool. Do not stay here if you have children, the motel gets very loud and very wild. If you're in your late teens, early twenties and love to party then u might be able to stand this place. Don't stay here on a honeymoon, or for some R&R. This motel is a big Pink Nightmare.
