“Paid twice”

When my husband, me and our two teenage children came our room was given to somebody else and the only choice we had was a smoking room. Travelocity charged us for two nights but we were forced to pay again. The explanation was that the hotel has a conflict with Travelicity and it is our irresponsibility was to cancel our first payment. The room curtain was on a floor in the room. We asked to put it back. One towel was dirty, we asked for clean one and two additional because it was four of us. For the next night we got non-smoking room but we were lucky enough to find better place to stay.

I had a coupon from Florida Travel Saver for $39.99 so I called the night b4 to make sure they'd accept it they told me check with them tomorrow. I got there around 2 pm and they said they won't accept this coupon til next month! I told them it would be nice if they would say that over the phone. They said I could stay for $45. I didn't wanna pay them 1 penny after they lied to me on the phone. I think they call that "bait & switch". Im gonna report them to Travel Saver also.

“Does the Job”

Just needed a place to stop in overnight while heading back up from the Keys and didn't want to spend alot of money. Checked in at 10pm with no problems, the room was clean and tidy, and the bed pretty comfortable. We didn't stay for breakfast, but after being advised at check-in that is would only be 'very basic', I wasn't too worried. This is a cheap hotel, and you do get what you pay for, but it totally suited our needs for a short stay.

“Absolutely the Worst, Ever!”

Visited Everglades National Park recently, thought this is a reasonably close by place to stay. Man, what a mistake! This has to be the worst place in the country. Very dirty, very bare minimum service. The owner didn't even try to keep up with the basic maintenance. Breakfast is just some cheap white bread. Yucky smelling rooms, including the office. Have no idea which idiot who gave them 5 or 4 star rating. Don't think any customer would do so. It has to be fraud, rated by themselves. Stay away from this Rat Hole!!!

“Can't Recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Edit: I downgraded the hotel b/c I was double charged for the room. The exact thing happened to another reviewer in June 2010. When I checked in, they told me that they did not get a confirmation email from Priceline. They wanted to run my credit card, and I told them that I did not want to be double charged. They told me that it would not be a problem, since they are the one that makes the charge, not Priceline. Apparently, there was no communication within the office, b/c somebody charged me a second time (I checked in after 9pm, both charges were made the same day with a $0.01 difference. Hm). I called them, and they told me to take it up with my credit card company. I’m annoyed that they couldn’t just reimburse my credit card themselves. I let them know that this is a prior complaint against their hotel on TA, and they told me that they’re working on it…working on it since 2010? Just be aware that this could happen if you book them through a third party. I would rather pay more and support a business that does not cause such hassle.

Old Review:
I don't know if there is a better deal in the vicinity. Booking online (we used Priceline) was $5 cheaper than calling the hotel. They do not offer AAA discounts. WiFi is free, but not fast. Maybe you can request a room closer to the router. The location was fine. All hotels in this area offer free parking. The service was fine. I read some of the other reviews and did not encounter such problems. The room itself is very basic. I had requested a king bed, but got two full beds instead. Not really an issue. The room was relatively clean, but very worn. I can see repair spots on the walls. And though i don't see many stains on the carpet, I would prefer not to walk barefoot. I saw no pests. Microwave and fridge were provided. Shower was fine, but I wouldn't be comfortable soaking in the tub. The only toiletry provided was a few bars of generic soap. There are many restaurants and grocers in the area. I'd recommend Mario's Latin Cafe. Did not get to try the pool and will not be trying the breakfast. This felt like a safe area. I don't think the high percentage of "not rec'd" is warranted. This was a unspectacular motel that provided you the basics. Sometimes that's all you need for the night.
