I needed a hotel for just one night in Amelia Island to have a place to stay for a triathlon. The hotels closest to the triathlon start were either booked or over $100, and I didn't want to pay that just for a place to sleep. The Beachside Motel is old but adequate. My husband and I had two small dogs with us and were put in the "dog room", which was not as bad as anticipated. The carpet is old, but the room was clean and had everything we needed. Nancy at the front desk accommodated my late checkout request, which was very helpful. The pool looked nice, though we didn't use it, and beach access is convenient.
The only problems I would say is that the hotel is old and the door is not very secure. The people in the room next to us were smokers and when they smoked outside their door the smell came right into our room. Plus people walking by outside at night were noisy and the door doesn't block much noise. I also would not leave anything of value in the room because one good kick and I'm sure someone could easily get the door open.
A friend did book a very nice hotel for less than $100 close to the triathlon, and I would have preferred that, but the Beachside Motel was clean, the service was friendly and it served its purpose.

We just returned from a very relaxing vacation on the sunny island, enjoying a most attentive staff & the many amenities Beachside Motel has to offer. Kathy West, the Manager, went beyond the call one night. She left her cozy home immediately upon request to return to the motel & rescue our ailing TV. We didn't miss a minute of Two & Half Men!
For a modest price, we had access to everything needed to take in the wide, sandy beaches, only a flowery footpath away. Reserving a lovely room on the second floor, we could simply step out to enjoy a sensational view of the gleaming ocean. We often sat outside our room in the warm, breezy evenings. Settled into peaceful bliss, we'd listen to the luscious waves lap the shore.
To our delight, the little, open-air, seafood restaurant right across the street from Beachside, has survived & thrived. The Surf's cuisine is delicious; the servers very friendly & efficient. And it's so convenient!
If you’ve tired of the steady stream of high-rise condos stuffing the shoreline, embark on a calming journey into Amelia where life is a sublime toast to seaside happiness. Take our cue & lodge in the only oceanfront motel on the island. You will love the experience!

Very friendly, clean but an older motel. Conveniently located. The only motel on all of Amelia Island. I would stay there again,

This is not deluxe accommodation, but takes care of the basics in a clean environment. Small fridge and microwave in room. Excellent restaurant, the Surf, across the street. Unfortunately, it doesn't serve breakfast! Pool is clean, easy walk to the beach. Quiet, relaxing. Friendly staff.
