“Great location, poor name change”

Ditto to everything H _Camber had to say. We also stayed in a two-bedroom apartment. It was very spacious and CLEAN. The mattresses were new and the linens in good shape. The carpet in the bedroom had been replaced. They said the room was due for more renovation but it was great the way it was. Tile floors except in the bedrooms. And why the bad-mouthing about Mary in some of theses reviews? She was great - very helpful and friendly. Really looked out for her guests. But "Wanna Be Inn"? I wouldn't stay there if I didn't know better. Hopefully they'll get WiFi soon but we really didn't miss it that much. Spent that time on the beach instead.

“Location, location, location. Spectacular.”

I'm giving 4 stars because this place is currently being renovated and it needs it- the one open pool is run down and the rooms show some wear- so keep that in mind if you book soon. But all that aside, the location is so breathtaking that nothing else really matters. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments on the ground floor - right.on.the.beach. This beach is littered with so many shells and shark teeth treasures that the kids (8&9 year old girls) couldn't peel themselves away from it. With access to both the bay side and the coast at the very tip of manasota key, you can't find a location better than this if you want a true vacation in paradise. You breath deeper here- it's simply impossible not to. At night you can hear nothing but the waves crashing onto the shore. Sigh.... Interactions with the front office staff- both on the phone and in person- were pleasant and accommodating. I truly look forward to returning here. Hopefully the new owners will reconsider their name change from Westons Resort to the 'Wanna Be Inn' - it sounds cheap and it doesn't even remotely capture the essence of the natural beauty of the property.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the beach. Worth it.

“A great place for a real vacation”

Born and raised in Englewood, FL, I typically stay at my parents house when visiting. This time, because friends were joining me, I decided to rent a place on the beach. Weston's turned out to be a great choice!
We reserved a two bedroom suite close but not adjacent to the beach, which we were happy with. Despite it being Christmas weekend, the staff made sure we made it into our rooms at our convenience and all the promised amenities were available. Unfortunately, due to ongoing renovations our air conditioning didn't work, but we were upgraded to a beach-front room free of charge as soon as possible, in which everything worked perfectly. They offered several staff members to help us move - that's what I call service!
The ONLY thing I would improve is wireless internet for the rooms - although it's possible to use the wifi at the McDonald's just up the road. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, found the beach and short walk to the Stump Pass state park very relaxing, and will definitely choose Weston's again.

“Sunsets, heated pool and family atmosphere”

Our family has been taking Thanksgiving week at Westons for over 25 yrs and it has always been wonderful. Our trip this year was shadowed by the passing of our Mom (she of course has always been the driving force behind our Thanksgiving family vacations) she made sure we all had our reservations before she passed. In years past truthfully the lovely resort had gone downhill...but it has new owners and they are really investing in it well to bring Westons in Englewood to it's former glory!!!! New mattresses, linens, kitchens ect ect ect. Mary in the office is the absolute best and is so proud of all the upgrades, she is like one of our family. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast of fried turkeys and all the fixins then watched our nightly sunset over the Gulf.
When we checked out we were at lunch in town when I realized I had left a favorite pair of black pearl earring in the bedside drawer, when I called Mary she said the room had been cleaned and the wonderful cleaning crew had turned them in at the office!!!!!!I was sure they would be gone forever as I had experienced at hotels before...not so at Westons, the new owners should be very proud of thier long standing and honest employees. Thanks and we will see you next year.

Room Tip: Room 105 is our favorite sunset but most all gulf front rooms are wonderful and even the other rooms...

“November at Westons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

If you want room service or maid service just go elsewhere. This place is for us people who want to see the best sunsets in the world, spend lots of time walking on the unpopulated beach and just keep it real . Our room, right on the beach, was clean and provided all that was needed for a very comfortable stay. We brought home lots of shells and even some sharks teeth for the kids. No.... the tooth fairy here in NH did not leave money under those pillows. Good try kids.
There is fishing on the Gulf side. Also the bay is just across the street for great fishing. You almost always see dolphins swimming there.
If you bring a fishing pole, you can buy some live shrimp bait down the street. Any bait left over can become an evening appetizer.
It is life at it's best if you still appreciate the simple things in life. In my opinion, this is a hidden jewel.

Mary , at the front office, was exceptionally kind. She has lived in Englewood all of her life and can help you find some good local places for shopping and eating. I can't wait to return.

Thank you Mary. I hope to see you again in the future.

Nancy P

Room Tip: Gulf side for the sunsets.
