My husband and I just took our first trip to Destin this past week and we really enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn. It's right in the middle of town, and we really liked being able to walk right across to the beach. The staff was always very attentive to our needs, and our room was always cleaned quickly when we were out.
It was nice to have access to a laundry room to do some laundry before heading home as well. Overall we had a very pleasant first stay.

The building is reminiscent of a Super 8 motel having been taken over and given the Hampton Inn name... and name alone. The Elevator provided glorious motivation to stick with the stairs.

The interior of the rooms are you typical cookie-cutter hotel fair. TV that swivels, but not to the point you want it to so you can fall asleep to it. Air conditioning that has two settings: off and arctic.

The restroom has a common element that becomes a much more important action to take, namely the lock. You'll want to lock the bathroom if you need to use the "facilities." Otherwise you run the risk of someone opening the bathroom door while you're comfortably sitting, possibly reading a magazine, and cutting your poor scrawny legs right off due to the way the door and toilet are so closely positioned next to each other.

The staff was helpful and pleasant.

Great service, just a 2 minute walk to the beach, decent (free) breakfast, we had a suite with a kitchenette/living room. Very clean and tidy. Very sad for the week to end and having to get back to the real world. Oh and beds were supppppper cozy!!

My father and I stayed at the Hampton for 3 nights this past weekend while we were visiting family in Ft. Walton Beach. I found the hotel staff to be exceptionally welcoming, from the front desk staff to all of the various staff throughout the hotel. Everyone we met said "hello" and was very pleasant.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well suited for our needs. The beds were very comfortable (my dad slept like a rock!)
The bathroom was also clean and very functional. The only complaint we had was low water pressure, most likely as a result of having to turn the water way down because it was too hot.
I did find the pool to be on the small side, but that is not surprising when you consider that the most beautiful beach in Florida is only a few hundred yards away.
The exercise room was also very small, with very limited machines (treadmill, eliptical, and bike) and weights (dumbells up to 15 lbs), but it was neat, clean and had a nice tv to watch while exercising. I'm used to a full gym, so take this with a grain of salt but I would have liked to see more free weights and/or weight machines.
The breakfast buffet was awesome! The host staff kept everything well stocked and fresh. They had two hot entrees each day (varied), plus a waffle maker, cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, juices, coffee, and hot chocolate. Always a full house each morning!
Overall this was a delightful place to stay, very comfortable and well managed.
