We have been going to Sandpiper Cove for several years now. I do not know any other condo in Destin (that is not a high rise) that is right on the beach. We almost always choose a unit on the first floor where you can go to the beach directly from your balcony. You take a few steps down from the balcony and your are standing in the white sand. It does not get any better than that. Some of the units are directly on the gulf where you have a 180 degree view of the sea. Some others are up to a 150 feet back, so you only get to see a small part of the sea, but you save a lot. You are still on the beach, but the other houses obstruct some of the view.

The units are individually furnished, so there is a lot of variation. We have stayed in one that was not great, but the others were all just fine, well equipped and clean.

Most of the units are on the other side of the road and they are even cheaper. That's where the three swimming pools, tennis courts and golf links are located too. But to us the main draw is the gulf, so we always stay on the beach side.

We enjoyed all that SPC has to offer. It was nice to be such a close walking distance to the beach and still have other available activities such as the par 3 golf, pools, shuffleboard. We were able to take my son for walks around the community to see the boats at the harbor/the ducks and next time I think we will take our bikes. At first I thought that I might miss having a place directly on the beach, but the walking distance ends up being about the same as when you stay in a high rise, and it's so nice to be able to drive right up to your place.

This will be our fourth stay. We've always stayed on the canal in #1033 and it is wonderful!!!! It is fully furnished with lots of extras - movies, books, etc.- and they have a free setup (2 beach chairs and an umbrella) every day for guests. We were disappointed that it was not available for our stay in Oct. so we'll be staying in a different condo. We deal directly with the owners of #1033 and they are delightful and helpful in every way. We've never met, but honestly, they feel like friends because we've e-mailed and spoken by phone so much. It is only a one bedroom (with a pull out couch), one bath condo but it is just like home.

My family vacations at Sandpiper Cove every summer. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the folks at the gate house where you enter and exit the property. The 2 bedroom 2 bath condo is clean, comfortable and roomy - perfect for kids. We rented a condo on the canal because it is less expensive than the Gulf view rentals. The kids love the canal because they can fish off the boardwalk. We uaually hang out on the beautiful white sand and crystal clear surf each day, and it is a very short walk to the beach from the condo we rented. There are several pools to choose from. My husband and kids love the 3 par golf course that runs through the property - so be sure to bring your clubs. There are also tennis courts and shuffle board. The only thing I wish Sandpiper Cove had was a playground. There is definitly enough space on the property to put one! If you go, be sure to eat at the Louisianna Restaurant on the property. There is also a beach bar located by the Gulf with good fish sandwiches. Sandpiper Cove is located right in the heart of Destin. We have been coming to Destin for over 15 years - you will not find a more beautiful beach anywhere in the US!
