The pool was closed for 4 days. Glass was broken in and around pool area. The rental chairs were placed 4 feet from the water on the beach. If you got too close to their chairs they ask you to move up away from them. There were approximately 100 rental chairs on our part of the beach. Gibson Beach Rentals does not offer amendity cards to even rent one of these chairs. We were very frustrated because we have several small children with us.

I stayed in 1 bed room unit.
Cons:
- It wasn't cleaned well when we got there and they charge about $70 cleaning fee.
- Both TV remote controls didn't work.
- There were 3 beach parasols. 2 were broken. 1 worked but not in a good shape.
- There was a cockroach (adult thumb size) in bathroom.
- We had 2 staff visits while we stayed that we didn't like.

Pros:
- Air condition worked well.
- Check-in/out was easy.
- Plenty of kitchen wares were there.
- Resort was good to walk/jog

Sandestin is a fantastic resort. We traveled with three kids (including two teenages) and all were very pleased. The two bedroom condo at Beachside II was clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable, and oh what a view! It was our firt time to the Gulf and we were very impressed with the green water and white sand. Since we flew from MD to Destin and did not have a rental car, we did not bring the beach basics (cooler, chairs, not even a frisbee or football). It was cheaper to buy these items and leave them behind than to pay the baggage fees, or rent them on the beach. That was disappointing. Also, not having a car made grocery shopping cumbersome. With a family of five, we did not eat three meals out everyday. The resort tram takes you to the Publix gorcery store off the resort, but doesn't pick you up till two hours later. We didn't like missing beach time for grocery shopping. The next time we needed groceries, we rode bikes to the store and put the groceries in our baskets. It was hard work but fun as well. We stayed at Sandestin for 5 nights. We went to the Village for dinner every night. The Village atmosphere was great for families as well as groups of young people. Also, I should mention that the Sandestin staff was always helpful when we called to ask a question. By the time our trip was over, we had everything mastered. We knew where to catch the tram, where to ride our bikes, and where to go to dinner. It would have been nice to know these things before we got to the resort, but by the time we left, all we thought about was what a great trip we had! We would definitely stay at Sandestin again and stay at the Beachside II.

I have been going to Destin for 30 years and I have never been treated as a second class citizen like I was by these people. When we arrived it was 80 degrees in the condo. and took all night to cool off. There was not one piece of ice in the Ice bucket it took 2 days for the refrigerator to get cool. Then there were hardly enough towels for 4 adults 7 nights. When I called for more towel they said come to our office in a couple of days we are out right now. I told them I did not come on vacation to wash towels but we had no choice. When we went to wash the towels the dryer made so much noise you had to leave the condo. Then there were a lot of bulbs burned out. One whole bank of track lights over the stove was out and was never fixed the whole time we were there. When I went took cook breakfast the pans were so disgusting I had to go and buy frying pans to cook in. When I reported these thing they did not seem to care. The condo was not cleaned well. Unit 4125 is a nice unit with a great view. If Ocean Reef Resorts would manage the property properly it would be a pleasant place to stay. I you want to put up with the hassle trying to get things fixed, washing towels and dirt this is the place for you. ALSO FORGET RENTING CHAIRS OR UMBRELLAS I WAS TOLD IF YOU RENT FROM OCEAN REEF RESORTS NO UMBRELLA OR CHARS FOR YOU! WHEN I ASKED WHY THEY SAID OCEAN REEF RESORTS DID NOT BUY INTO THE PROGRAM AND THERE CUSTOMERS COULD NOT RENT THEIR EQUIPMENT.
ALSO, I TOOK MY FAMILY ON A CHARTER FISHING TRIP ON THE MISS HAZEL ANOTHER RIP OFF $900 AND WE BROUGHT BACK 2 LBS OF FISH.

DESTIN HAS BEEN CHANGING OVER THE YEARS BUT OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS IT HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE.

DO YOUR HOME WORK BEFORE YOU GO AND EVEN ASK ABOUT HOW MANY CHEAP TOWELS YOU GET. WOW!
