Let me start by saying this was in our timeshare (Bluegreen) network, and we used points for this quick trip. We stayed Monday through Friday as it doesn't take as many points those days, and we only live 3 hours away. We have been to quite a few Florida timeshares, but I was surprised to find this made it to the top of my list. Better than Daytona and Ormond Beach, better than Holmes Beach or Bradenton. Very clean, very quiet, very cozy feeling. This was an older hotel that was updated. We had a 1-bedroom, 1 bath oceanfront unit with a pull-out sofa bed. The kitchen is not large at all, but has everything you need. Nice decor, granite counter tops, tiled floor/updated carpets in our unit. Washer and dryer - pretty much the standard things for a timeshare. Here's where it stood apart: 1) Parking was easy and painless as well as very convenient to our unit. No valet parking as we had in Miami w/a daily fee. 2) Staff. Nancy went out of her way to be helpful. She was extremely friendly. I have never met a staff member whom I felt just exuded "have a nice vacation; relax" until Nancy. The other 2 staff members I encountered were also friendly and efficient. 3) Bed. The most comfortable one yet ("easy to sleep" as my husband said over and over). 4) TVs. Updated, brilliant picture, and large. 5) Coffee maker. For some reason, most coffee makers in the timeshares make awful coffee--not sure if it's the cleaner or the water. This one was great. 6) Proximity of amenities. No walking eons to get to the pool, shuffleboard, grills, or beach here - just a few steps away. 7) Quiet. Felt like a true getaway - room was extremely quiet and grounds were peaceful even off the busy road. 8) Location. There was enough to do in the time we were there to keep us from getting bored. We walked the beach, swam, used the hot tub, played shuffleboard, walked Atlantic Avenue, went shopping in Boynton Beach, went to a nice play park at Ocean Inlet Park just a few minutes up the road. I know there are gardens and other pay activities in the area, but we just enjoyed driving around looking at the multimillion-dollar houses and doing the above.
Our last night, we were grilling salmon on the wonderful grills (there are 4 or 5 of them), looking out over the ocean and gazing up at the beautiful stars while our two daughters (10 and 4) played their own version of shuffleboard behind us. For just a little while, all worries faded and life was picture perfect. If you are looking for activity after activity, this probably isn't your place (go on a cruise, seriously, or head to Orlando or Miami). But if you want a quiet getaway in a beautiful location, I would definitely recommend Gulfstream.
