“#265 - Excellent condo!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We stayed in #265, which is owned by a private owner, James Frank. This condo is not owned by the hotel. There are a number of negative reviews of this particular hotel but if you go through an individual, as we did, you will have much better luck.

Condo - studio condo with one bathroom and nice size balcony and fantastic view of the ocean. The condo has definitely been updated and looks very modern. The kitchen has a full size fridge, cooktop stove, and microwave that doubles as an oven (a little trickey to use at first). The owner was extremely helpful as we got locked out of our building one time and he immediately headed over to help us out. Very nice couple, eager and willing to please.

Amenities - swimming pool is fine but we prefer the beach, large patio with chairs, barbeque grills, pantry in the main lobby with items for sale, etc.

Beach - the beach is a matter of steps away but you have a fantastic view from your condo. The beach is public and does have some traffic/vehicles on it during the day. The beach is beautiful and the Atlantic is refreshingly cold, as always. There is a beach service for table, chairs and umbrella but you do have to pay for this service. We did do this a few of the days we were there and they do close up shop fairly early. The other days we just used beach towels. The beach does not allow alcohol, particularly glass bottles, but the beach patrol will typically not give you any trouble unless you are drinking from a glass bottle or getting particularly loud, rowdy or generally calling attention to yourself in a negative way.

Location - location is very good, you can walk down to the pier which has a number of restaurants, bars and shops. We did walk down a couple days for lunch. There is a 7-11 across the street that we visited about a million times every time we realized we had forgotten something. The nearest grocery store is quite a hike; we did hike down the 0.7 miles to the grocery store but called a cab to bring us back with all of our groceries. Unless you rent a car, I would recommend you get all of your groceries on the first trip as the 7-11 can be very expensive for forgotten items.

We tend to go on vacations for relaxation and this trip was certainly no exception. The hotel is very quiet and in a fantastic location. The owners are very friendly and helpful as well as responsive to your needs. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the Daytona area and looking for some R & R!

My family and I spent a week at this beautiful condo-tel. When we checked in the front desk manager was so helpful and she gave us a deal as my husband is a retired vet. When going to the room it was clean and well maintained. After getting comfy we went back down to the desk where there was another wonderful lady who told us some great places to visit and the best places for dinner. We will be back several times a year!

Room Tip: ocean fronts!!!

“Family Oriented - Great Price - Right on Beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

Stayed in this condo for 8 days. No complaints at all, just a little noisy due to construction next door and some late night guests checking in. No big deal though, nothing that kept me from sleeping or enjoying myself. This is not a Travel Lodge any longer. The condo's are owned by individuals and rented out. I noticed that a few of the people laying out by the pool knew each other, so I'm guessing that they live here or are frequent guests and have become friends over the years.
If you have children, this is nice because it is gated and you can't get out to the beach unless you type a code into the gate. You also could not get back in to the condo without a code, keeping out unregistered guests. I liked it because we have a very curious 7 year old that will go wherever he wants and we have to watch him constantly. We were in a bottom unit. This was nice because the kids could go to the pool just outside the door and we could watch them from the kitchen while we prepared lunch or dinner. No lifeguard on duty, but our kids are fine in the pool with minimal supervision.
Great place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone with or without families. Close to everything and very convenient to the ocean!

“perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011

We stayed 3 months at Ocean Jewels. (for the first time) It is no longer a travel lodge..I believe most people own these condos now and either live there or rent them out.. The resort is clean and beautiful..It is right on the ocean!!!! The view is amazing..Has 2 pools also, lots of grills for all to use..It is so convenient. You can simply walk to numerous fabulous restaurants, shopping, the famous boardwalk, and Main St. for bikers week!!! You can also walk to a big cinema playing movies practically all day. We picked this place sight unseen for the reasonable price especially being on the ocean...Just search for it and hopefully you will have many choices from many different owners.
