We stayed in #265, which is owned by a private owner, James Frank. This condo is not owned by the hotel. There are a number of negative reviews of this particular hotel but if you go through an individual, as we did, you will have much better luck.
Condo - studio condo with one bathroom and nice size balcony and fantastic view of the ocean. The condo has definitely been updated and looks very modern. The kitchen has a full size fridge, cooktop stove, and microwave that doubles as an oven (a little trickey to use at first). The owner was extremely helpful as we got locked out of our building one time and he immediately headed over to help us out. Very nice couple, eager and willing to please.
Amenities - swimming pool is fine but we prefer the beach, large patio with chairs, barbeque grills, pantry in the main lobby with items for sale, etc.
Beach - the beach is a matter of steps away but you have a fantastic view from your condo. The beach is public and does have some traffic/vehicles on it during the day. The beach is beautiful and the Atlantic is refreshingly cold, as always. There is a beach service for table, chairs and umbrella but you do have to pay for this service. We did do this a few of the days we were there and they do close up shop fairly early. The other days we just used beach towels. The beach does not allow alcohol, particularly glass bottles, but the beach patrol will typically not give you any trouble unless you are drinking from a glass bottle or getting particularly loud, rowdy or generally calling attention to yourself in a negative way.
Location - location is very good, you can walk down to the pier which has a number of restaurants, bars and shops. We did walk down a couple days for lunch. There is a 7-11 across the street that we visited about a million times every time we realized we had forgotten something. The nearest grocery store is quite a hike; we did hike down the 0.7 miles to the grocery store but called a cab to bring us back with all of our groceries. Unless you rent a car, I would recommend you get all of your groceries on the first trip as the 7-11 can be very expensive for forgotten items.
We tend to go on vacations for relaxation and this trip was certainly no exception. The hotel is very quiet and in a fantastic location. The owners are very friendly and helpful as well as responsive to your needs. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the Daytona area and looking for some R & R!
