We took our trip the week before Christmas 2011 and we had a great vacation. I traveled with my 4 young grandsons and yes the resort is not a 5 star resort but it was ok for what we wanted.
We wore our flip flops as slippers when we were inside and didn't worry about the floors as we were bringing in lots of sand from from the kids. We were on the 5th floor and the view was wonderful but there were no screens in the windows so we did have to watch the kids closely.
The kitchen was small and only one person could work in that area, but from the previous reviews we knew what we were getting. There were small ants, but only in the kitchen. The staff did spray and we kept our food closed up. After they sprayed we didn't see them anymore. They did offer us another room but we declined. Take your own frying pan if you are fussy about your eggs. I went out and bought one as I couldn't cook eggs with what they had.
We had no bedbugs, that was our biggest worry, and we planned to leave and go elsewhere if we saw one. We were good there.
The pools, and playground were wonderful and we spent a lot of time there. The resort does not clean the beach from the seaweed that washes ashore. But we walked down to the beach from the end of the parking lot. The furniture did see better days and I had an old quilt with us which I used to cover the couch. We didn't have to worry about the kids ruining anything that was already run down and that made the trip more relaxing for us adults. This trip was for the kids and they had a wonderful time. This was a trade with Interval and compared to what we would have spend and got with a hotel, we were good. I would go again knowing not to expect top rate. My flying pan, quilt and beach chairs are ready to go.
