“Enjoyed our stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

I had read some of the reviews, but couldn't pass up the 50 % off price. We had a very clean room, with an ocean view, just as promised. There were no bed bugs, and the kitchen and bathroom were clean as well. The lock on our door was only secured by one screw, but we had no security issues. The breakfast wasn't great, but it was free. Over all, nice hotel for the cost.

“We will be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

We ere there from the 4 to the 7th of August and do not know where the awful bad reviews some people are posting come from. This is not the Hilton, but it is a nice, quiet, clean, affordable little hotel that has nothing to envy from a lot of other hotels in the area. This is an old structure well kept, clean, the pool is good, with complimentary breakfast (that is not bad). The only thing I would recommend is that they update the game room for bigger kids and paint or cover the back area of the pool to make it more appealing to the eye, but besides that I have no concerns. It is safe, the staff is friendly and helpfull. We had towels available all the time, shampoo, soap and evry other little gadget you have in fancy hotels. I definitely recomend it for family stays. We will go back

Room Tip: all the rooms are ocean front, it is a pet friendly hotel and I did not see dirt or smelled pet pee

“The honest review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

Okay, I used to stay at this hotel a long time ago, when it was known as the Seagarden Inn. Now, it is called the Islander, but not much has changed about it. I was a little reluctant to return, after reading the reviews on this site, but decided to take a chance. Let's go over some facts here: You're paying around $65 a night for an ocean front hotel that's right on the beach that features a free continental breakfast, a large pool and a hot tub, a other things. You can't find a good deal like that anywhere else, and remember you get what you pay for. Honestly, the rooms are clean, the beds are nice and soft. We had a problem where we were woken up at 5 in the morning by a loud squeaking sound via our neighbors deciding to take a shower, but the staff was quick and efficient, and took care of the problem immediately. I can't honestly understand why people bad mouth this hotel like they've been doing. It's a great deal, but I guess people are just going to complain.

The only complains I could find were that the indoor pool is all but usable. I mean that they're apparently doing maintenance on it or something, but I never saw them touch it once. the game room is also a little...well, disappointing. The claw machine is weak and can't pick up anything, the shooting game is poor as you have to basically put the barrel onto the screen to play, but the crazy taxi, pacman (that's my high score, btw) and the air hockey were enjoyable.

You're also right across the street from a Denny's, an IHOP, a Red Lobster, and a large gift shop. The beach in front of the hotel is great, seeing as it isn't as crowded as the other parts of the strip was great.

Honestly, I think that people hate this hotel for the sake of hating it. Aside from my nitpicking, I can't wait to come back. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nice (the bathroom's small as possible, but it's okay), you get a kitchenette, and the price is cheap. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Pet's are allowed, but they put you on the lower floors.

“1 word, DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

I would NEVER stay in this hotel again!!!!!! The only reason I stayed is because we had our dog and it was the only place available that accepted pets. The young girl at the front was very nice and helpful, but the room was horrible. The floor was DISGUSTING, I almost didn't want my dog to walk on it that's how nasty it was. The bathroom was TINY, you had to almost take your hand off to get the front door to close. The kitchen area was the best kept area in the entire room. I will NEVER return there, unless they renovate. The property is VERY old, out dated, stinky, and etc etc..... My stomach is turning as I write and remember what I experienced. My kids enjoyed themselves and that's what counts. If you're just passing through or don't care about where you lay your head, this is an ok place. Other than that the extra fee somewhere else is WELL worth it. Oh and wi fi is NOT free in the comfort of your room. There is a fee to use it, but you can go in the lobby and use it for free. I was on vacation I didn't want to leave my dirty private room to be interrupted by guest just to surf the internet. DON'T trust the photos, the pool is as good as it gets.
