We recently stayed at the Omni at Championsgate for a vacation to Walt Disney World and Legoland. The resort is in a decent location, not the best location, but still only 10 minutes away from Walt Disney World and about 40 minutes to Legoland. If you plan on going to Legoland, this hotel is the closest luxury hotel in the Legoland area--with a decent price. Winter Haven (city where Legoland is) does not have a single resort within 15 miles. They are all cheap motels which mostly people live there in those motels as I saw plenty of bikes, scooters, toys, etc. when I drove by the motels. However, Omni is the perfect place to stay.
When I arrived to the resort. I really was surprised by the Championsgate entrance and how elegant they made it. There is a Publix (local supermarket), McDonalds, Subway, 2 gas stations, and plenty of other convenient shops in Championsgate. The resort itself--beautiful landscaping, neutral colors, and limos and towncars instead of taxi cabs. Upon entering the lobby, we were greeted and helped with our luggage. The front desk gave us "Omni Sensational Kids" gift bags which had some cool stuff.
Our room was 1546 and it had a wonderful golf course view. Where do I begin? The room was everything that a room could be! It gave us a feeling of home; 250 miles away from home. The bathroom had polished tiles and not a hair was found. The carpets and furniture were cleaned to perfection. Bedsheets, towels, and other linen were super clean and smelled fresh. The refrigerator and coffee maker looked as if they were new because they were spotless and the coffee maker had no coffee smell. We brewed tea and it came out really good and coffee taste free. The walls and doors were well kept. Normally, there are scuff and scratch marks on doors and walls from luggages in other hotels, however Omni had almost none. There were one or two at most on some doors in the hallway but that's perfectly normal.
The grounds of the hotel are awesome in every way possible. Everything is elegant and fancy. From the moldings and woodwork on walls and ceilings to the carpets and furniture it was all perfect. The golf course was very well maintained. If you need anything for golf or anything at all really, there are about 5 different pro shops there. It was really cold (about 40 degrees during the day and 20 degrees during the night) when I visited, and the grass was green and trimmed every morning. Golf was a lot of fun and it was easy to get to the Championsgate Club with the free shuttle. There are four main water area: two pools, a kids splash area, and the lazy river. Even though it was 60 degrees outside, the water was heated and we were able to stay warm with the plush robes that were in our room. Fitness center was well kept and had CardioVision which is a TV that is equipped to some of the machines like the treadmill and I think the elliptical. There is also a fire pit outside where you can warm up during the winter. If you are traveling with young kids and you want to play golf, there is a Camp Omni day care place but you do have to make reservations for it in advance.
Omni has the best places to eat. Trevi's, which is an italian restaurant and breakfast buffet has a very good selection choice. We ate breakfast there every day and it was amazing. There was a big variety of choices for everything. For those of you who love Nutella, they have it and some of the best breads to go with Nutella, too. There is an omlet bar and pastry area as well. The overall price came down to $36 for a family of three. Davids Club is the second restaurant there. It is very exclusive and has a bar, lounge, restaurant, and billiard tables. It is, however, very inexpensive but has 5 star quality. There is also the Broadway Deli which has great ice cream and some other cafe which serves Starbucks Coffee
Overall, I had a wonderful stay. There was only one disappointment at check in. We were charged for watching an X-rated movie when we did NOT. They told us that it was a computer error and removed it from the system, however we did feel uncomfortable about the fact that they billed us for an X-rated film we never watched. Omni, please look in to fixing that so it doesn't happen to future guests. But this resort is a MUST STAY!!! Even if you don't play golf, this resort is great for anything from conferences to vacations
