“Dated but comfy”

Great staff; very helpful and cheerful at 11pm when we checked in. The hotel has clearly been around awhile and the architecture and materials are worn. The room in particular had an older feel to it. The king size bed was absolutely scrumptious. I'm thinking of calling them to see where they got their pillows. 'twas a great night's sleep. What more could you really ask for?

Room Tip: If you're alone, getting a king size bed, rather than two queens, is a naughty luxury

“Dissappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

Check into room, found items left by last occupant. Room didn't feel clean. View of pool from room - looked dirty! Not worth getting starwoods points. Heard door of ice and vending machine room all night.

Dear evadninorc,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations during your stay. Items found in your room is unacceptable, and we reviewed your comments with our housekeeping staff to address their service to you.

This week we are having all the exterior windows of the hotel professionally cleaned. We sweep our pool deck and clean the pool every day to ensure it is in excellent condition, and we recently replaced several sections of the deck to provide a safer experience for all of our guests.

Please contact me personally to further discuss your experience. We would love to have you return to enjoy our improvements.

Warm regards,

“Comfortable 1 night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The room was really nice. Bar / Lounge was adequate. Other than the food in the restaurant there are no other dining options around so once you get to the hotel, you can't walk to any place to eat.
Used the shuttle from the airport which arrived in about 10 - 15 minutes after I called.

Dear NaPo007,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor. We do offer food and beverage service in both our Fire Iron Grill and our Atrium Lounge in the main lobby, but we do understand that our guest may want to venture out from our dining options. Last month we added complimentary local transportation to the shops and restaurants at the Oakwood Plaza to add to the enjoyment of staying at the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port Hotel. I hope you can take advantage of this new amenity upon your return.

Warm regards,

“A welcome retreat with all the help.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We arrived after a 14 hour flight from New Zealand via Santiago in the early morning, almost dead on our feet. A warm welcome was given to me at reception and a very friendly and helpful man was on hand to help with luggage etc while we stumbled into our spacious room. My friend who is 90, tripped on the carpet and fell between the two beds, I was unable to help him up and called the reception. Soon four large gentlemen were at the door to help him onto the bed and what a relief. I guessed they were firemen or similar. Such a small thing BUT such a relief for us. The hotel is " old-style" by my standards but heavy with feeling of days gone by, BUT GREAT staff and good meals and we met up with folk travelling with us on our cruise and that was the greatest. A ride to the cruise ship next morning was delightful and easy for us "oldies' I would certainly stay with them again and hope to do just that when I next travel to the Amazon and Rio next January, Well done.

“Very helpful employee - Roberto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My name is Henry Bridgewater. On 1/20/12, at about 10:15am, I parked my vehicle an '07 m35 Infiniti, in the Hotel's parking lot.I stepped out of the car, closed the door, retrieved my 2
pieces of luggage from the trunk, shut the trunk, walked back to the lobby area,to board the
courtesy bus, headed to the airport. My flight left at 12;54pm, and arrived in Nassau, Bahamas at about 1:50pm.After clearing customs, my wife and cousin were waiting for me.We
left the airport ,stopped at a supermarket, to buy some groceries. While in the store for about
a half an hour or so, I began to feel a bit troubled in my spirit, wondering, if I had locked the door of my vehicle. I said to my wife, Honey I don't think that I locked the car's door. She replied maybe you did, it'll be okay.I said Honey I don't think so, I've got to call the hotel and
check on it. When we got home, about 4:00pm I made the call, and ROBERTO answered the phone.I explained to him my feelings, and asked him to checked the car out for me.He said
ok, and call him back in 10 mins. I did. ROBERTO said to me, Mr. Bridgewater, you did not only left the door unlocked, you left the car running. At that moment, all I said was Oh My God.
I was shocked. ROBERTO then told me every thing is alright, he shut the engine off, and locked the door. My next statement was, Thank you LORD, AND THEN I Thanked ROBERTO,
and promised him a monetary reward, for what he did, but most importantly I Thanked God,
because of His Protection of the vehicle, that was running for about 6hrs.,and No one stole
the vehicle, and also nothing was missing from my vehicle. ROBERTO is truly a very honest employee, and a graet asset for your Hotel. May God always Bless him and his family and your hotel, because of his helpfulness, and his exemplary act of kindness. God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Henry Bridgewater.N.B. I DID NOT STAY AT THE hOTEL.

Room Tip: No tips, because I did not stay at the Hotel
