We stayed at the Sleep Inn, Dania from January 12-16th. This gave us several nights to develop an overview of the hotel and its facilities. First of all, I will say, if you want the Hilton, stay at the Hilton. If you want a clean, unpretentious middle of the road hotel with lots of conveniences this is it.
We phoned from the airport and were promptly picked up gratis by the hotel van. As we arrived at the hotel, we noticed that there was plenty of free parking on the grounds. The lobby entrance had four luggage carts, more than we've seen anywhere else. We were checked in quickly. Our room had all the basics including a new flat screen t.v., fridge, microwave and safe. When we had an issue with the safe, someone came immediately and repaired the problem. If we had a suggestion, it would be that the room could have used a second chair.
Facilities included an outdoor pool and hot tub, a computer, a printer with a nominal fee for each page requested. The gym was small with three machines. There was a much appreciated laundry room with a washer and dryer for use by guests. They cost $1.25 in quarters. Soap and fabric softener were available for purchase at the front desk at $1 a box.
A complimentary breakfast was included and consisted of cereals, hot oatmeal, misc. breads and pastries, fruit, yogurt, eggs, biscuits and gravy, juices, tea and coffee. We appreciated that tea and coffee were available all day.
There's a Walgreen's next door and a small plaza with restaurants, a Dollar Tree and a Publix grocery store across the street.
I found the housekeeping staff to be particularly helpful and personable. One young woman checked to see if we needed any additional toiletries. Another maid saw that I had a cut on my arm as I entered the elevator. She located me in the computer room and offered me bandaids. When I asked about a specific church denomination, the desk clerk printed off and gave me a list of all those nearby.
We were going on a cruise and required the van to take us to the port terminal on Monday Jan.16th. Reservations for this are made at the front desk a day in advance, so on Sunday morning we asked for a ride at 11 a.m. the next day. We were placed on the list. There were no problems. Again it was free and we left at the requested time.
We were pleased with the service and amenities at the hotel and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends.
