“An enjoyable, restful taste of Old Florida”

We booked here while traveling via AAA. Found the location to be a perfect spot to take a break before continuing on to Sanibel. We enjoyed Crystal River and Homasassa so much that we spent two nights here instead of the planned upon one. The location is great - right off the highway and close to local attractions and restaurants. We found some amazing bargains at the on-site fly fishing outfitter. Spent money here we hadn't planned on! The breakfasts were OK - but didn't expect gourmet with a continental set-up. Our room was only OK, but the place was not busy, so sleep quality was good. I imagine that during High Season, things might be a bit busier and noisier. Another plus was the location right on a saltwater inlet - I and our dog enjoyed walking the docks and watching the pelicans dive for their breakfast...

Room Tip: Our room was dated. Perhaps ask if any rooms have been recently renovated?

“Clean, mostly quiet, comfortable”

If you're going to go swimming with Manatees, this is a close, clean, comfortable, and mostly quiet place to stay. Breakfast was as expected and the personnel at the front desk was professional, informative and pleasant.

“Exceeded My Expectations”

I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfortable this room was. The carpet was clean. The bathroom was spotless. Bed perfect. The remote control was even in a sanitizer- love it! I couldn't believe it was in better condition than the Embassy Suites I came from in Orlando. Breakfast was fine- waffles plus continental. The staff was very friendly and the lady at the front desk even called my cell after I checked out ( i was still in the parking lot) to tell me I had left something. When I went back in, she gave me $10 that had dropped from my bag! And the housekeeper was so nice when my dive ran late and I was late getting out of the room. This hotel is a great location for manatee swims and diving. Lounge chairs near the pool look right out over the water- so relaxing! The room was very quiet which is important to me as I'm a light sleeper. Didn't hear a sound. I also loved the computer in the lobby as mine wasn't working. The only down-side for some people may be hauling your luggage up the stairs. All in all I had a wonderful stay and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Some wings are renovated and some are not. Try to reserve a new wing.

“Besides the interrogation it was good”

Wanted to stay on the water. The rooms were not directly on the water but close - a walk through or around the pool IF you paid a little more for the "river wing". The rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the sanitized remote. A bit overpriced though. We had a nice 1 night stay accept when the one time we used the pool a man came up asking if we were hotel guests, we said yes then he demanded our name and room number which he punched into a little device to check because apparently he did not believe we were really staying there. I have never been treated like that when using a hotel pool before and it was relly weird putting a big damper on our family fun. He didn't ask us like hotel staff who cared about our stay but like a grouchy cop who wanted to get us in trouble and it made us almost feel like leaving right then like we weren't welcome.
Breakfast was good and well stocked with a very nice lady who made us our waffles. She was very friendly and did not demand our name and room number like the guy at the pool.
Will probably try a different place next time where we can save a little money and not get interrogated for using the pool. Would actually just perfer no pool than being treated like that. Maybe they have a problem with locals using the pool but that doesn't mean they should make paying guests feel so uncomfortable about it.

“Over priced! A waste of money!”

IF you had a boat or were going diving, that would be the only reason to pay such high rates for a Motel.

It was clean, the room ONLY OK and the staff were nice. But that was overshodowed by the fact that it was only a motel on a busy road with lots of traffic noise.

Room Tip: You can do better if you stay in the back of the property but parking is an issue.
