“Nice...but missing a few small things”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Location - I originally was looking for a hotel that was near the South Miami beach but even 4* hotels were all around $300+ so I looked a little further away and this 5* hotel is about 15 min SW of the main beach area, in the Coral Gables district. From there, we drove about 20 min W to shop at the large Dolphin Mall. There are high end restaurants in the area but on a lazy, late Sunday morning, not much was open in the area.
Check-in- friendly and efficient.
Parking - underground parking for $16 self-park/ $22 valet behind the hotel but connected to hotel by the elevator.
Room - decent size with 2 double beds. I've stayed in several Hyatts before and not sure why a 5* hotel only offers double beds and not queen sized beds. The room was very warm, despite the A/C being blasted all night.
The hotel itself is very pretty and nicely decorated. I would give it 5*'s but it loses 1* because the bathroom fan wasn't working, the free coffee in the room only had 1 cup and no stir sticks (my husband and I had to share the cup and mix it with my toothbrush), only 3 bath towels, and the A/C wasn't working well.
Price - bid for it on Priceline so considered it a good value, especially compared to Miami hotels by the beach.

“The food and beverage assistant manager was so pleasant and catered to specific diets for my family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We love the Hyatt in Coral Gables. The suites are huge! The banquet facilities are superb! We were thrilled to have Mr. Dunn personally cater to our family. Our kosher friends were surprised at the delicious foods prepared that tasted just like moms! The food was visually pleasing as well as unique and delicious. We were treated like royalty. Mr. Dunn is an asset to the Hyatt!

“Quiet, elegant, nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I stayed here for a business trip. The hotel is very well decorated. The rooms are elegant. I stayed on the 12th floor. There were blackout curtains, which were nice. Everyday I was given toothpaste in addition to the regular shampoo etc...It's an extremely quiet hotel. The concierge was helpful. The cab ride is a $17 flat fee to and from the airport. When you call for a wake up call they ask if you want a follow up 15 min later. Nice touch.
Only a couple of blocks from many restaurants and the miracle mile. From March to November the local restaurants have a dining under the stars night on the First Friday of the Month.

They were out of rooms when I made the reservation so I ended up making 3 different reservations so I wouldn't need to switch hotels - when I called to confirm, someone had rearranged my reservation so I wouldn't have to switch. That is great customer service.

“Nice but something missing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed two nights on a terrace suite after a cruise. We arrived to the hotel early on the morning but our room wasn´t ready until 3PM. Hotel staff kindly took care of our luggage and we were allowed to use the pool and the facilities while waiting for the room. Both pool and the gym were nice.

Our suite was big, nice and clean, but quite dark, and it felt really humid all the time. I guess it´s the climate, but we felt that our clothes that were hanging on the closet always felt wet when we put them on. Also when walking the carpet felt wet.

We got a honeymooner gift from the hotel, bottle of red wine and chocolate strawberries, that was a nice touch. Concierge of the hotel was really nice and helpful. He gave us maps and called some places for us.

Coral Gables area is nice, and the trip to the airport was only 10-15 mins. You can walk to a lot of shops and restaurants. We found a nice place to eat; Coral Gables Ale House. Ok it´s a sport bar and nothing fancy but the food was good, especially the shrimp pasta.

Overal the hotel was ok but not very special. For the price we payed I would have expected a more luxurious place.
