The property is within walking distance of the "miracle mile" in Coral Gables so if that is what you are interested in, it's perfect. Otherwise a car will be needed to get around. I stayed in a junior suite which was spacious and had a fully equipped kitchen and even a balcony. This was a major advantage for in-room meals since the hotel does not have a restaurant on site and the room service menu is very limited. Although everything was clean and in working condition, I found the overall look and feel of the place very old and decaying (e.g. the bathtub was literally peeling off). The place needs remodeling really bad. The hotel is not staffed at all times so for many issues you will need to call their sister property, the Biltmore. They also offer a "shuttle" service to the Biltmore but be aware it is not a real shuttle, but a car that drives back and forth, so it is not always available at all times (this posed a problem for many of us since we were there for a conference and had to be going to the Biltmore at the same time every day). A major inconvenience was that on my first day there they decided to have a fire alarm drill so the fire alarm started going off at 9 am and didn't stop until the afternoon, making it impossible to get any work done (much less rest or sleep). The staff was friendly and otherwise it was a pleasant stay, but this place is nothing to rave about.
