“You'll need transportation - on the beach but not close to restaurants or stores.”
I always caveat my reviews by reminding people to make their choices based on their needs and desires for accommodations and recreation. Here are the pros and cons on this hotel relevant for our family. We stayed here the day prior to a Disney cruise.
PROS: *On the beach – good for 6 year old to pick up shells. Important: remember to ask for a view of the ocean. (see CONS)
*Got Hilton Honors points we’re accumulating to use in NYC or Paris in the near future.
CONS: *I forgot to ask for a room with an ocean view and got stuck in a room with a view of the parking lot; we were already unpacked by the time we looked out of the window so we didn’t ask to move. This was a huge disappointment for all four of us, and I was disappointed in the desk clerk who didn’t even ask if we wanted a view.
*No free shuttle.
*You will need a car staying in this hotel, or be willing to take taxis. No family restaurants, coffee shops, stores or grocery stories we could easily walk to.
*Loud air conditioner in the room.
*No free breakfast, and nothing nearby (Denny’s is a good 15 minute walk).
OVERALL, My advice is, if you aren’t picky about hotel brands, stay at the Grand Sheraton right in the heart of the action, further down the road, or something close to that hotel. There is so much more to walk to by staying somewhere other than the Hilton.
