My husband and I were in northern FL visiting family and decided to rent a car and drive south for a few days. We ended up here. It looked kind of nasty as we checked in but I figured for one nights stay it would be OK. We threw out luggage in the room and left immediately to get something to eat. When we came back to the room, I had a chance to look around. Everything was stained, dirty and in need of repair badly. The drapes were barely hanging on the curtain rods. The security lock was broken. The side chair looked like someone puked all over it. The carpet and bedspreads had huge stains all over. But again-- one night. My husband went into the bathroom, came out and told me to go outside. He brought out the luggage and we drove over to the office. He told me to wait in the car. I kept asking him what was wrong but he wouldnt tell me. I could see him inside arguing with the clerk. Finally, he came out. As we drove closer to the beach to look for another room, he told me that when he turned the light on in the bathroom, he saw not one, not two, but three cockroaches. He knew if I knew this there was no way I would stay there! He told the clerk about the room and asked for a refund. She refused. She said the room would have to be cleaned again (haha) and the cleaning staff wasnt in that late. She would lose money on the room. He told her we had only been in the room 5 minutes. We threw out luggage on the bed and left for dinner. She said too bad. He insisted. She finally told him if he didnt leave she would call the sheriff. He asked her if she wanted him to wait in the lobby or wait in the car until the sheriff came. It was then that she gave him his money back. When we got to another room, I googled the hotel and found the bad reviews. Never again will I stay at a place without checking them out online first.
