Obviously if we're returned to this hotel this many times, it's getting a rave review from me! The location is spectacular, down on the quieter part of beach (important if you don't want to hang with the spring break kids when they're there.) You look out over the gulf towards Sand Key, and because of the location, you often see dolphins from your room, or even your beach chair.

Mark (aka the "Cabana Boy") will take care of your chair/umbrella rental if needed, and he's also a wealth of information on local activities. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating to our needs when necessary. The Tropix Beach Bar is well known (both locally and far and wide) for it's world famous Rum Runners; and you'll often find many of the locals just hanging out there (both young and old alike). On the weekends be prepared as many of the locals come into that part of the beach dropping anchor close to the shore, to hang out as well, although they're always friendly and not imposing in any way. (Clearwater Beach -- or at least that part is not private).

The rooms are spacious for the most part, and it's really nice having a mini fridge in the room (great for keeping a few food & beverages cool to save you a bit of money). Not a huge fan of the IHOP attached to the front as it's seems a bit pricey, but they do offer "carry out" service there, which we've often done & taken a sandwich to the beach.

Also, on a side note, every time I have visited there, it's been a "girls" trip. And while I've never seen any sort of activity going on around there that made us more cautious, we've always felt VERY safe at this hotel. Which can be a very big plus!!!

All in all, I really can't say enough great about this hotel. Friendly staff, great location, etc.This is not a "fancy" hotel, but it's certainly no "dive" either!, so if you're looking for a "swanky upscale" place, this may not be your cup of tea. But for me -- it's has been for MANY years now, and I see no reason to think that I would change my travel plans to another hotel in the near future!!!! Love it here!

Impressed with this hotel. Has everything you want -if you do not want to get in the car and drive, no need to! Has nice pool area, small tiki bar, service ok. Ihop resturant attached to front of building. Hotel has their own beach, hotel right on the beach! We spent our entire day on the beach watching pleasure boats go back and forth. Saw a dophin about 6feet from coastline. (rare- but you never know). Walking distance to resturants, t shirt shops and Walgreens. Nice Italian restarant across the street, (also mini golf right across the street.
Hint: ask for room 3 rd flr or higher or you will look at the parking lot on the partial gulfview side.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights - having traveled from Orlando for a break from Mickey Mouse! It was absolutely perfect, our room had 2 queen beds which was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 year old daughter. There was plenty of space even with 2 beds for our little one to play and there was a large balcony. We were on the top floor and had amazing views of the Gulf - amazing to watch the dolphins at sunset. We were travelling with my in-laws and were given rooms next to each other without even asking - small things like this make a big difference.

The staff were polite, helpful and were always sure to say 'hello' to our daughter and her pink rabbit! They provided us with a bag of beach toys for her to use also.

The amenities of the hotel are good - the IHOP was as expected, there is a Walgreens over the road.

By far the best bit of the hotel was the beach and the swimming pool! It was lovely to relax and not worry about too many people. The only downside was 2 men riding around a speedboat which was very noisy and made the waves a bit much for our daughter but I completely understand that the hotel has no influence over this. We stayed during the week but I dread to think what the boat situation would be like at the weekends!

My children, husband, and I arrived at Clearwater on the advice of a local. Happened to come across this Hotel late in the evening and even though the balcony was not beachfront, we were none the less dissappointed. Beach is foot steps away. We have never been to the beach before, so this was the best first experience. The community seemed safe, upbeat, and family oriented. In the late evening, us and our children walked into town, shopped a little, picked up a late dinner and went back to the hotel, picked up some towels, and sat on the beach and ate dinner. We listened to a nearby hotel's music as we searched for shells and watched as dolphins passed by. It was wonderful. The only thing I did not like is that the laundry is not within the hotels doors. The laundry is open to anyone, and I would have liked to have had the peace of mind of me and my laundry being safely inside were you have to have the hotel key to get in.
