My husband and I stayed three nights at this hotel from September 22-25 of 2007. Our stay was okay. We were booked in a room that promised a view, but the only view was that of the stairwell on the third floor. So, we requested a room change. That was done with no problems at all. THIS time, the view we had was nice. It faced the harbor.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This hotel is going to become a Days Inn. They were going through the "change over" during our stay. This may still be in process as this review is typed.
Pros: It's not in direct line of the current construction on S. Gulfview Blvd. It's about 75 yards away from where the road closes.
Pricing at AAA rates was 71.10 for a weeknight, and $80.00 on weekends. Not awful for wanting to be close to the beach.
Smoking rooms are available. Some have pretty decent views.
Nice swimming pool and pool area. Lounge chairs aplenty in pool area. Swim towels available at front desk.
Getting to the beach was an easy 5-7 minute walk at a slow pace.
Shops and restaurants easily within walking distance.
Cons: Very firm/hard beds.
Rooms facing the Gulf appeared to not have good views. You can only see the ocean between the tall buildings across the street from the hotel.
Overall, we would not stay again at this hotel because we found the beds to be just too hard to sleep in for long. Depending on the time of day, the front desk staff was either helpful or a bit of a hindrance.
