My wife ,myself and our 5 1/2 year old autistic daughter arrived at the Sea Stone Resort aroung 10 p.m on a frriday evening. We pulled up to Road construction with 2 trucks parked right infront of what we thought was a motel. My wife noticed the sign and it said SEA STONE RESORT, We could not believe that a *** resort will look like this, but we said who knows maybe we are at wrong entrance. We then came to the front desk in a small room that was checkin where there were two gentlemen at the so called reservations, checkout, continental breakfast room and brochure room. It was attached to a small room where the breakfast would be served which was the size of a large closet with the added resort touch of a 19 inch television on the wall. The smell in the office alone was not able to be described but it sure was not the smell of ocean air. I do have to say that the night man who checked us in was very pleaseant, but by the time we were ready to go to room, my wife and I already knew we made a bad choice. The first sign was the picture on the net is not the picture of the hotel, and the picture on the table inside the room where we checked in had the same picture on it which was a picture taken from behind the hotel with the next door building included. When confronting the front desk the response was we can not be responsible for internet errors. We had to get the wheel cart to bring our own bags to the room, we get on the elevator which once again had a smell we never smelled before and walked to our room . The door had mArks where it was pucnhed, kicked and not freshley painted in years. We opened the door and we walked into a room that looked like it was not cleaned in a week, the smell was like the ocean dried up inside the room. We then inspected the bathroom and it was rancid, dirty toilet , two towels, holes in the door , dirt on corners on each side. I told my wife we cant stay here ,we called the front desk and asked to be changed to another room. He stated that someone just stayed in your room and they did not have a problem, then he said all rooms are in the same condition and he would be happy to show us. We then decided to not stay but we had to stay that night becuase our autisitc daugjhter was tired and we just drove 4 hrs to get there. He said we would have to call the reservationist and have them call him. I called them and thanks to them they placed us for the next two nights at a Radisson in the area that was great. We will be writing a positive review for that hotel. Getting back to the Sea Stone the room carpet has not been cleaned in at least 10 years, we wore our socks the whole time and we had to throw them out becuase they were so dirty. My wife actually scrubbed the bathroom herself, and I still was not comfortable showering or even sitting on the bowl. We will not post pictures on here, but we did send them to the reservationist to make sure other travelers do not fall in the trap we did. When we checked out we spoke to the manager she swore her hotel was clean and prides themself on that. I then pulled out my camera phone and showed her our socks, she changed her tune, good thing for technology. As for the picture on there advertising she claims same thing they can't be responsible for advertising on the internet, my wife then pointed out to her the display of brochures on her table that had the same picture. We found relief finally by being compensated by the reservation company and we were placed in a great hotel. The only thing that reminded me I was in a Key West style resort was when I remembered the day after hurricane , Andrew, Katrina and Wilma then this motel at best can be considered a Key West style resort. It would not even warrant a one star rating in our opinion and my wife and I wonder how it shows as a 3 star resort.
