“An Okay Place to Stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2007

My husband and I stayed three nights at this hotel from September 22-25 of 2007. Our stay was okay. We were booked in a room that promised a view, but the only view was that of the stairwell on the third floor. So, we requested a room change. That was done with no problems at all. THIS time, the view we had was nice. It faced the harbor.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This hotel is going to become a Days Inn. They were going through the "change over" during our stay. This may still be in process as this review is typed.

Pros: It's not in direct line of the current construction on S. Gulfview Blvd. It's about 75 yards away from where the road closes.

Pricing at AAA rates was 71.10 for a weeknight, and $80.00 on weekends. Not awful for wanting to be close to the beach.

Smoking rooms are available. Some have pretty decent views.

Nice swimming pool and pool area. Lounge chairs aplenty in pool area. Swim towels available at front desk.

Getting to the beach was an easy 5-7 minute walk at a slow pace.

Shops and restaurants easily within walking distance.

Cons: Very firm/hard beds.

Rooms facing the Gulf appeared to not have good views. You can only see the ocean between the tall buildings across the street from the hotel.

Overall, we would not stay again at this hotel because we found the beds to be just too hard to sleep in for long. Depending on the time of day, the front desk staff was either helpful or a bit of a hindrance.

  • Liked — The location is really not bad.
  • Disliked — The very firm beds.

“Great hotel for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2007

The hotel was clean and orderly. The check in person was nice. Parking was a little tight but we were directed to an adjacent parking lot. The spa tub (or hot tub) is no longer there but the pool was clean with plenty of chairs. The front desk has towels for the pool so we did not have to use our room towels. Upon check out we overheard the front desk person saying the hotel is going to become a Days Inn and be remodeled. We'll be back.

“worse time a ever had”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2007

That was the worse time I ever had at a Hotel, anywhere in the wordl, and I’ve been all over the globe.
It was noisy, a good place for drunks and undesired people.
There should be a government entity to check this tipe of places.

“Had a great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2007

I had read a lot of reviews on this hotel after trip was booked and they were horrible. I was really worried about this hotel being really bad. It wasn't at all. The pictures I saw on all the websites were exactly what the hotel looked like. The pool is nice, plenty of chairs to lay out on. Beautiful views of both the marina and the ocean. I would definately stay here again and would recommend to my friends/family. It may not be some fancy hotel but when on vacation how much time are you really there in the room anyways?

“0 star motel at best ”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2007

My wife ,myself and our 5 1/2 year old autistic daughter arrived at the Sea Stone Resort aroung 10 p.m on a frriday evening. We pulled up to Road construction with 2 trucks parked right infront of what we thought was a motel. My wife noticed the sign and it said SEA STONE RESORT, We could not believe that a *** resort will look like this, but we said who knows maybe we are at wrong entrance. We then came to the front desk in a small room that was checkin where there were two gentlemen at the so called reservations, checkout, continental breakfast room and brochure room. It was attached to a small room where the breakfast would be served which was the size of a large closet with the added resort touch of a 19 inch television on the wall. The smell in the office alone was not able to be described but it sure was not the smell of ocean air. I do have to say that the night man who checked us in was very pleaseant, but by the time we were ready to go to room, my wife and I already knew we made a bad choice. The first sign was the picture on the net is not the picture of the hotel, and the picture on the table inside the room where we checked in had the same picture on it which was a picture taken from behind the hotel with the next door building included. When confronting the front desk the response was we can not be responsible for internet errors. We had to get the wheel cart to bring our own bags to the room, we get on the elevator which once again had a smell we never smelled before and walked to our room . The door had mArks where it was pucnhed, kicked and not freshley painted in years. We opened the door and we walked into a room that looked like it was not cleaned in a week, the smell was like the ocean dried up inside the room. We then inspected the bathroom and it was rancid, dirty toilet , two towels, holes in the door , dirt on corners on each side. I told my wife we cant stay here ,we called the front desk and asked to be changed to another room. He stated that someone just stayed in your room and they did not have a problem, then he said all rooms are in the same condition and he would be happy to show us. We then decided to not stay but we had to stay that night becuase our autisitc daugjhter was tired and we just drove 4 hrs to get there. He said we would have to call the reservationist and have them call him. I called them and thanks to them they placed us for the next two nights at a Radisson in the area that was great. We will be writing a positive review for that hotel. Getting back to the Sea Stone the room carpet has not been cleaned in at least 10 years, we wore our socks the whole time and we had to throw them out becuase they were so dirty. My wife actually scrubbed the bathroom herself, and I still was not comfortable showering or even sitting on the bowl. We will not post pictures on here, but we did send them to the reservationist to make sure other travelers do not fall in the trap we did. When we checked out we spoke to the manager she swore her hotel was clean and prides themself on that. I then pulled out my camera phone and showed her our socks, she changed her tune, good thing for technology. As for the picture on there advertising she claims same thing they can't be responsible for advertising on the internet, my wife then pointed out to her the display of brochures on her table that had the same picture. We found relief finally by being compensated by the reservation company and we were placed in a great hotel. The only thing that reminded me I was in a Key West style resort was when I remembered the day after hurricane , Andrew, Katrina and Wilma then this motel at best can be considered a Key West style resort. It would not even warrant a one star rating in our opinion and my wife and I wonder how it shows as a 3 star resort.
