We've now stayed at Chart House Suites twice...good value, simple pleasure, really nice desk people, especially the Manager, Diane Bates! 3-5 minutes from anything in Clearwater Beach and right on the wharf where people park their sailboats and sleep overnight aboard. Nothing elaborate, tile floors protect them from dogs marking territory, which ours, of course, don't...HA! But most important, ocean (gulf) ambience and one very, very comfortable bed along with the usual TV, microwave, ice a few steps away. What else could you ask for? I know, a very reasonable price for the very quiet, easily accessible room...and it has that too. NOT PERFECT but damned good!

dolphins, herons, egrets, gulls, fishs...just in front of us ! large room and balcony with gulfview ....made for those who do not like live music on the beach and prefer peacefull marina view ! great location if you don't have a car and prefer to walk and Suncoast trolley stops are just a few steps away ! very quiet and secure location away from traffic !
it was or 2d stay but not the last one, we do hope to come back next year !

We booked a room at the Chart House for our anniversary trip to Clearwater. Upon arrival we were given our room key and information about the area. When looking for our room, we realized it was the only one in the corridor with the stairs and the door that went outside to the pool. When we went into our room, there was no carpet (all tile floors) which was a little odd. The room was clean but after returning from the beach we found a roach in the bathroom and our bath tub drain clogged and wouldn't drain the water after using it. But that was not the worst part. After a long day sight seeing, we came back to our room expected to get a good night's sleep. ALL NIGHT people went in and out of the door beside our room to the pool (even though the pool was supposed to be closed after dusk) which slammed everytime anyone opened and closed it. Not only that, at 2:30 in the morning there were people who were clearly intoxicated yelling, screaming, and crying in the stairwell right outside our door. This wouldn't have been such a big deal in a normal hotel but no one is at the front desk over night at this hotel. We were given an emergency number for the hotel down the street but were reluctant to call because it wasn't really an emergency. When we told the front desk the next morning, she just said we should have called the emergency number but didn't offer to give us any refund, even though the sign in our room said if we weren't happy they would make it right by refund.

We've stayed at the Chart House several times over the past 3-4 years. If you have a bigger group, the Penthouse on the 4th floor has a huge common area and terrific balcony! We've also stayed in the 1 BR (suite?) on the 2nd floor, again with a balcony facing the bay. You HAVE to be on the bay side. The views are great! Afternoon and evenings are shaded (because the balconies face north), and you overlook the yacht club sailboats, with a bay 'finger' in front of you -- fancy houses across the way -- , and the intercoastal off to your right. Pelicans fly in line right overhead. I prefer this view to ANY ocean front view. Now, the funrishings are fine, but not terribly fancy. And we usually drive to the beach (5 minutes away), but it is walkable if you're very hardy. But anyhow, back to the penthouse, it has a master bedroom with large private bath, and a second room with 2 double (maybe queen) beds, and a 3rd tiny room with a pullout sofa bed. The dining room, living room, and kitchen are very generous in size. We've stayed here with my 2 kids and in-laws, and there is more than enough room. The Chart House is in a very quiet section of Clearwater Beach (you WILL appreciate this when you try to sleep!), but it's very close to the livelier sections. But we always have a car when we're here... if you don't have a car, this might not be the best choice. Pool is nothing great, but at least there is one.
