“Beautiful new hotel and room, but there were service issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This hotel is all of 2 years old, and the property was very nice. We used the very nice gym and we had a junior suite with a full kitchen that overlooked the pool and the ocean. The kitchen had a full refrigerator, oven, wet bar, and microwave. The cleaning service was good, and the room service was good as well. The balcony was nice as well.

But there were some service issues:

-When we ate breakfast at the restaurant, the service was slow, and when we paid with a gift card, there was extra money charged to it that I did not authorize. I had to talk with the manager later to fix the issue. So, make sure to use cash or a credit card.

-When we checked out, I asked for a cab, and the front desk rep asked the bell desk people to make the call. After the call was made, I asked which cab company we should look for. They said something like "Marie will be in a gray car." I asked "which cab company does she drive for?" They replied that they didn't know. I then asked if she was with a cab company or car service. Finally, they admitted that she was with a service. I asked if she had a meter, and they said they didn't know, and then one of them said it was a flat rate to the airport ($55). I then asked how much a cab would be, and of course they said that they didn't know.

I was very upset about their lies and evasiveness, but we had to get to the airport. When the car service came, after our bags were put in the car, I saw the driver give one of the bell desk people some money. So it was clear in my mind that they would always call a car service, even if a guest requests a cab, since they make more money that way.

So, if you want a cab at this hotel, you should call one yourself, otherwise the bell staff will probably always call the car service to rip you off and to line their pockets.

It was very sad that our trip had to end that way, and I did call the manager a few days later.

“Best Beach Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom units. It was like staying in a condo. It was very large and nicely decorated. The beach was right across the street. My 2 teenagers loved the beach and the resort pool. There were a few shops and restaurants that were in walking distance. The hotel restaurant was very good. The service was excellent.

“Very good with room for improvements”

The Hyatt is an awesome hotel : modern, grandiose, gigantic but still a quiet and very relaxing place. The room was absolutely fantastic and the kitchen was very well equipped. But, as nice as it was, I would formulate three complaints : 1) The ventilation / AC is very noisy and can be annoying at night (it woke me up) 2) There were stains on one towel and in general, the towels seem to be a little tired 3) The doors make noise when they close so the evening can be noisy depending on the activity of your neighbors in the corridor.

We enjoyed our stay. If you hesitate between the Hyatt and the Sandpearl, it's hard to tell, both were excellent for us.

If you don't like the crowd or if you find that all the stuff on the beach (beach chairs, cabins, ..) ruin the view, walk toward the more peaceful part of the beach near the sandpearl resort (It was the case during our stay)

“Excellent location!”

We are just ending a seven night stay at the Hyatt in Clearwater Beach. Upon check in we upgraded to a corner room that offered two balancies and more floor space. Some of the balcony furniture could not be used because of the bird poop. The hotel povides excellent sevice and a wonderful breakfast buffet. A few minor disappointments include room carpet that could use a cleaning and a shower head that could have more pressure.

The hotel's excellent location offers plenty of walking opportunities on the Beachwalk and Pier 60. Plus, there are many nearby restaurant choices and activities.

“Didn't plan on staying at the Hyatt, but glad we did!”

My wife, my 3 year old and I stayed here at the last minute when our other accommodations did not work out as we had hoped. I was hesitant to even go into the Hyatt, expecting very high prices, but upon explaining our situation to the front desk assistant, she went out of her way to get us a good price (it was still pricey, but better than we expected at the last minute). We had a very large, well appointed 1 BR suite with kitchen, and 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies with an excellent view, considering we were not on the coast side of the hotel. The staff were amazingly helpful every time we dealt with them. The pool area was nice, and the kiddie pool was just fine for our needs. They also had free beach toys to borrow, which our son enjoyed bringing down to the beach every day. Yes, you do have to cross a small road to get to the beach, but this is an ideally situated hotel, and on the best part of the beach. It was easy to walk around from here for breakfast in the morning. Crabby Joe's next door was a favourite friendly destination just steps away every morning for breakfast, and for a couple of other meals.
