The marketing-overview presented by Wyndham Clearwater Garden for their property is egregiously misleading. I checked out a full day early, such was my disappointment with this hotel.
Simply put, the hotel is not as described...neither on various travel-booking website nor on the corporate home page for Wyndham itself.
If you read the reviews of this hotel on Travelocity, Yelp!, Booking.com, TripAdvisor, or similar sites, you will see multiple variations of the same complain, over and over: "This hotel is not as described".
Briefly:
1) LOCATION NOT AS DESCRIBED
The claim: The hotel is marketed as "beach front" and having "ocean views", and so forth.
The reality: The reality is that the hotel is on the bay inlet...and not on the beach. Period. It's a black and white issue with no shades of gray. The hotel simply is NOT on the beach. And ocean views are not possible when the property is NOT on the ocean.
2) FACILITIES NOT AS DESCRIBED
The most egregious claim: the hotel claims it has "our 24-hour gym and fitness center".
The reality: The "fitness center" is in fact a bare room, 10 feet by 10 feet, that contains the following three items: 1) a single old treadmill, 2) a single broken/non-functional recumbent bike, and 3) Four dumbbells. Yes, that's right, four. This is not a fitness center in any shape or form, it is a bare room with some remnants of a fitness center that should probably be thrown away.
3) INADEQUATE PARKING
Simply put, there is not enough parking for the hotel. Two nights in a row, we had to wait 30 - 60 minutes for a single parking space to become available (which usually only happened when one of the employees completed their shift and went home.
4) NUMEROUS NON-FUNCTIONAL ITEMS
The ice-machine on our floor was "out of order", as was the soda machine.
The hair-dryer in the room was non-functional.
The single table in the room had uneven legs, making it impossible to use.
The above fitness center contained three items, two of which were either broken or incomplete.
The hotel itself is reasonably clean and quiet, and were it being described remotely accurately, and priced remotely accurately, customers could make reasonably informed decisions for themselves.
But when our only source of information about a hotel is inaccurate, it removes from us, the customer, the ability to make an informed decision, because we have been misled about key, critical items.
When large numbers of users report the same basic problem with a hotel, and say it is being fundamentally misrepresented, it is incumbent on the hotel ownership to examine the situation and correct it, in my humble opinion. It is obviously not being corrected at the corporate level of the Wyndahm ownership.
I suspect many customers would be wiling to accept the actual level/quality of this hotel...were it being described honestly. But it is not. Numerous customers of this property have all said the same thing: "Boy, this was not what I was expecting."
That's not good.
