My wife and I were very excited about our stay at Bohemian, since we had stayed here three years ago for our respective bachelor and bachelorette parties. We found a deal on
TravelZoo, and thus my wife proceeded to call to make the reservation for our 3rd anniversary.
This is where the problems started, my wife had to play phone tag and goose chase to finally get someone on the line after several attempts. The person on the other line was
rude, and contemptuous. In the end with our promotion deal, we asked for early check in, which we were told would be no problem at all, and they offered to have breakfast
included in our fare, which we were told would be no problem at all. In fact, the person told us they were going to put a $240 hold on our credit card for all of this which
would be released when we checked in (this is important later).
We arrived at 10:00AM on the day of our reservation and were met by a rather rude and indifferent front desk person, who told us that checking in would not be possible and
that we would have to come back at 4:00PM. When we explained that we'd asked for an early check in, her response was a shrug of her shoulders. She then took down our phone
number and said she'd call when the room was ready. She did not call. We arrived later that day, and were asked all the same questions; additionally, I had to specifically
ask about parking, wifi, shuttle, $50 food voucher, etc. No information was given unless I asked.
The room was very nice, which was possibly the only enjoyable aspect of this hotel, aside from the beautiful city in which it resides. Two complaints though, the TVs are
from the mid to late 90s, additionally, the carpets leading up to the rooms were significantly stained.
All those things that happened, we can forgive, people have bad days. What happened next is what sealed our decision never to return. We went downstairs to have breakfast,
which to our knowledge was covered under the promotional deal according to the person with whom we made the reservation. We ate the breakfast and were then presented with a
$30 bill for two people. When I said that it was covered under our room, none of the staff had any idea what we were talking about. We explained what we had done, and they
said it was impossible, that they do not offer that kind of deal, and that we'd have to pay the bill. We then asked about the $240 that was taken from our card to assure
this was all paid for. They shrugged and said they had no idea what we were talking about and that they don't know why $240 was taken from our card, but that we'd have to
pay the bill anyway, and wait until accounting got back on Monday to get the money from the hold back. The manager on call then told us that the $240 wasn't even a hold, but
rather a charge. What were they charging $240 dollars for? We already paid the fare! Essentially Bohemian took $240 from our card for no reason without any intention of
honoring any of our arrangements, nor any way to access that $240 to pay for the breakfast. They stole from us. Seven days later, we did get out money back. I offered to
then pay the breakfast with my food voucher, and they said they do not accept food vouchers for breakfast, only for food items at dinner. Had they fest up to their error and
comped the breakfast, we would have been very happy and would have continued coming to this hotel, but since they failed in every aspect of customer service, we will refuse
to come back. We were treated like sub-par guests. You can read my other reviews, I am very reasonable, and customer service is a huge deal for me.
To sum it up, due to the indifference, rudeness, and money chasing of the Bohemian, we will not be going back. They lost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars of future
business, over a $30 breakfast. Please be careful with promotional deals.
As a final note, the wait staff at the bar and grill were friendly, and amiable. The hotel staff should probably learn something from them.
