Having travelled accross The US for 6 weeks we booked this B&B as a change from all the hotels we had stayed in, What a mistake, No welcome the house was in darkness, We then found a note with the keys to let ourselves into our room, This was after informing the owner we woulds be arriving before 6pm, could understand it if we had been late !! The room was dark damp and very cold over night not even a coffee maker in our room, the cusions on the bed were grubby. thank goodness we only booked 1 night. Breakfast the following morning, no choice just a cheese omlette with a wafer thin slice of ham and a frozen hash brown just put infront of us (not exactley the gourmet breakfast as advertised.)
we were not asked what we would like, the toaster was covered up with no bread on offer, also cereal was out but no milk. The owner turned up as we were about to leave, very obvious for the payment, when she saw that we had left most of our breakfast we then got an offer of a muffin, She explained when only 2 rooms were in use not everything was put out,But we were paying the same amount as if all rooms had been occupyed ,We found the area a delight but a bit run down a lot of properties and a hotel up for sale.Having run a B&B in England for nearly 30 years( must be doing something right)Perhaps Alice should come and see how its done in the U.K.
