“King Room Review”

After cruising for 4 days we decided to relax by the pool at Ron Jon's. There were two families in our party. We both opted for the king room, being couples with one child each. I had spent 20 minuites on the phone with the company I was booking the hotel with. I was trying to find out if the room we were booking had a balcony. I never recieved an answer, but assumed since all the photos of this resort show balconies, that we too would recieve a balcony.. We were very shocked when we were given our rooms to find that the only window in the room was a glass block view to an indoor hallway. After one night, I couldn't stand it any longer and requested a room with a balcony. I then upgraded our room to a one bedroom suite. The extra money was well worth the lovely room and the awesome balcony overlooking the pool. I felt that the King room that we were initially given was like a cave being extremely dark and very musty. With no air circulating in the room, my husband became ill with a chest infection within a few hours. I was ready to change our plans, and go home two days early if the King room was the only option. It turns out that the King room we originally got, was the second bedroom linked to the one bedroom suite we ended up with.

Room Tip: Pass on the King Room and go for the 1 bedroom with a water park view. Well worth the difference in...

“Pre Cruise”

My family and I stayed at this fantastic resort prior to our Disney Cruise! We couldnt have chosen better, it was awesome. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, the pool area was beautiful and the water was warm. The staff were warm and friendly, and the food at the restaurant was outstanding. It was a 10 min taxi ride to Port Canaveral, so it was perfect to catch our cruise. The only downside was that we had to leave. We will definatly be staying at the Ron Jon Cape Caribe again!!!!!

“Great Resort Property, Average Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We are currently staying at the Ron Jon cape Caribe Resort with our two children (a 2 yo and baby). It is a very nice resort and has been very clean. Something that is important to us since we spend so many hours on the floor with the baby and toddler. overall, we really like the resort but the location is just ok for us.

Our unit overlooks the pool area - we are in a 2 bedroom condo unit - the kitchen has everything we need - the only thing missing is plasticware - it would be great to have plastic plates and cups for eating outside. The master bedroom is huge and the living area is as well with a large patio outside. The pools are heated and have been warm - there are several options for us even with little kids - and we would love to return when they are older to enjoy the water slide - along with the movie theatre, arcade, game room, etc! If you have preteens this resort looks like a great place for them!

The playroom has been great for us - it is so nice to have an indoor option for the cooler days of January. Plus, no need for sunscreen inside! The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes via a paved sidewalk and street that leads to the ocean front condos. Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent. An umbrella was $5 all day.

My only complaint about the resort is that there is only one restaurant on site and they do not serve breakfast - the food is good, we've had carry out twice and dined in once. We like to eat out on vacation or order in...so this is limiting for our family. I know many people prefer to cook in their condos.

The staff has been very nice and friendly. No sales pressure whatsoever. The activites are abundant even during the slow time of January - there was a live animal show ($2ea), poker demonstration, bingo and more.

As far as the location is concerned - it was an easy drive from Orlando - less than an hour from the airport, no traffic. The resort is located in(?) the port of canaveral - so driving into the resort has an industrial feel. There isn't too much within walking/biking distance from here. The port has "the cove" which is several restaurants - from dive bar to upscale casual. There is a small weekday market to which we have not been. we walked from the resort to the pier thru Jetty Park - it was a paved walk, about 20 minutes to the pier and very pretty through the trees. Saw dolphins in the water - great luck! The facilities at the park looked nice - a snack bar, boardwalk, and playground.

Since the weather has been cooler (mid 60s) we went to the Brevard Zoo and NASA on 2 separate days. Both are about 25 minutes away by car. Great side trips if you are looking to leave the resort. I will review them separately. We went to Manatee Park - didn't see any manatees but it was a quick trip. we went to Cocoa Beach Pier - which leaves something to be desired - I think the whole area is sort of run down when comparing it to other places in Florida - I've been to both coasts, Tampa to Miami and Vero Beach to Ft. Lauderdale. That is why I say its an average location - it is central if you want to drive back to Orlando or to go to NASA (which is very impressive, I will return). But the beach and town of Cocoa are nothing great at all.

All this being said, I would return to Ron Jon's when my babies are older to take advantage of the great family resort here - and that it is so clean with large rooms.

Room Tip: Main building rooms have easy access to all the amenities other than the beach.

“Great Place as a Post-Holiday Escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We had a great time in the week following New Year's at the Ron Jon resort. The staff was excellent--always smiling and always helpful. The pool and hot tub were oversized and never crowded. The on-site restaurant served very good food with daily specials, all reaonably priced. We even got to see "The Help" one evening at the resort's own movie theater. We had a particularly warm week and enjoyed walking along the beach--a short, five minute walk from the resort. The rooms could use a little updating and the mattresses were not particularly comfortable on the beds but this did not really detract from the overall fun experience of this resort. We would definitely go back there again!

Room Tip: We had a corner, first floor room which was not only quiet but provided a patio with a walk-out to t...
