“Great Resort and Location...”

Brandenton Beach - What a spot! Fanstastic location and people. Very friendly and quiet. Not pretentious though. If you are expecting a fancy place and service, go somewhere else. But if you want a little room with all necessary amenities, from a small kitchen, dishware, fridge et all for a nice, quiet vacation, that's the spot. Literally 5 minutes walking to the beach. All you need to do is to cross the main road and that's it! We'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: N/A... All are pretty much the same. Very quiet and quaint.

“Nice little spot on Anna Maria”

We made last minute reservations here and the staff was quite accomodating and friendly. The room was $100.35 per night inclusive of tax (10.5%). It had: fridge, small electric stove, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, some basic cookery items, dinette with 4 chairs, queen size bed, a murphy bed, 2 sitting chairs, flat screen TV, and AC. It appears to have been recently renovated and boasts new kitch cabinets and a new bathroom vanity. We were disappointed that the bedding was somewhat uncomfortable, poor quality linens, and the unfortunate cigarette holes in the blankets. ( We are describing rm 109) The rooms overlook the parking lot. The pool was very clean and heated to 82 degrees, in which our son truly enjoyed. Overall, this 50(ish) room old style hotel could use a little TLC, but, the value was good and the friendliness of the staff made up for some of it. Oh, and, the WiFi did not work. The price was right and it appears that the owners are truly trying to make some upgrades. Would stay again for sure. Anyway, we did not expect fancy.

Room Tip: All room face the parking lot. 2 and 3 story bldgs. We did not note an elevator.

“Would absolutely stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This is NOT a fancy resort. It's a motel type place, and the term "throw back" fits it well. Feels like something out of the 60s, but so does the entire island, so it fits perfectly.
Staff was very helpful; you will not find better.
Rooms were adequate, but again, older... they were clean and comfortable, but could have used a little attention from a handyman (replacing a cracked faceplate here, or caulking there)... but you're not paying for the rooms.
What you are paying for is the beach and this hotel's location. TONS to do within walking distance, and didn't get to do it all. Rental service for catamarans, waverunners, etc on their beach, with discounts for hotel guests. The private beach access is directly across a quiet 2 lane road. The beach was wonderful... not at all crowded. Walked up and down the gulf coast LOTS, enjoying conversation and the scenery, both day and night at all hours. Was absolutely perfect; could not have been improved on (water is a little cold @ 73*, but you do get used to it).
Hope to go back again.

Room Tip: Talk with the staff, tell them what you're looking for, and they will help you out. Bill and An...

“Throw-back beach and hotel”

We stay at the Silver Surf with our extended families every 4th of July weekend. We go back every year because of the price, the beach and the service! It is older, but clean. There is a lady across the street who will set up your umbrellas and chairs (no cost) and every room has a small kitchen so you can make your own food. (we stop in at the Publix as we cross over onto the island. The A/C is always running well, which is a welcome relief from the hot beach... If you are looking for old Florida with stunning beach sunsets (especially on cloudy days) and great service, not luxurious, but a beach-like relaxing time... this is the place! Very affordable!

“Great location, good accomodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

This place is directly across the street from the beach. They provide beach chairs and umbrellas plus there are jet skiis, sailboats and kayaks available right there. They also rent scooters. The hotel is older but well maintained. The hotel staff is very friendly and very helpful. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms. It was minimalist as described but provided what we needed for a short stay. There is a good local restaurant within easy walking distance down the beach and several others within a short drive. Watch out for the noseeums on the beach in the early morning (especially) and at dusk - they are serious!
