“It's the little things”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn, Gateway Blvd., Boynton Beach for five nights. I have stayed here before as I have relatives in the area. I have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The hotel and rooms are nice and clean. But this stay I noticed some changes to the negative. The prices are higher than some of the other comparable hotels in the area, the water flow in the shower and sink was extremely weak, the washclothes are paper thin, and the scrambled eggs at the breakfast bar were the powdered kind and not very good. All in all it's a nice hotel, but I'll probably try the Marriott my next stay.

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I don't know why this hotel received such good reviews. It's nothing special. The rooms are small and basic. The wine for the happy hour was watered down. The walls are super thin. The only good part was being able to walk to some restaurants.

“not at all what i was expecting”

i have been to this property before (a few years ago) and remembered it as being OK. with a 4+ rating from TA, i thought i would be fine for the 3 nights i was going to stay. There is nothing special or attractive about this hotel. But i wasnt looking for fancy. i wanted a clean room and bathroom, internet access and a TV. The room and internet were fine, but the TV was another story. when i arrived at 11:45, i checked in and went to my room, unpacked and turned the TV on. It did not work properly. It repeatedly froze so you couldnt watch anything and follow what was happening. i phoned down and they told me they would put me in another room. So i packed up and went down to the front desk and was given a key to a different room. the TV had the same problem. After about 30 minutes, the problem seemed to self correct, but shortly thereafter it recurred and i just gave up. In the morning, i called down to the front desk and was told there was a problem and the cable co was coming to fix it. I was out all day and came back at about 9, turned on my TV and lo and behold, the same problem. But this was the worst - the TV turned itself off. I called down again just to be on the record that i was not a happy camper. i will see what, if anything, changes. i do not want to pack up and move again - let them put a new TV in here.

And, when i went down to breakfast, there was a hair in my food. GROSS

i will not be back. There is a marriott not too far from here that i have stayed at and that, while a bit more expensive, was clearly an upgrade. On the positive side, everyone i dealt with was very nice and tried to be helpful.

Room Tip: if you dont have minimal expectations, its a fine place to stay. this place is not for me, even if...

“Not the beach, but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

This is a hidden gem. It isn't on the beach but is centrally located to everything else. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff is outstanding. It is walking distance to several top restaurants as well as a sports bar and shopping. The location is near the corner of Gateway and Congress and is easy access to everything. It isn't a "vacation" spot but is a fabulous business or relaxation place.
