We just returned from a 2 night stay at Courtyard Marriott Boca Raton. From what I had read online, there are not a lot of decent hotels in the Fort Lauderdale area. By decent, I mean clean, comfortable, with good staff, and good location. After much research, we found this one, and for the most part were satisfied with the stay.
The hotel is located right off Glades Road in Boca, and about 1 minute from the I-95 interchange. Very convenient. There are about 4-5 restaurants in the office park complex the hotel is located in. Ample free parking for the hotel.
Upon check-in, we were very impressed with the newly renovated lobby that was tactfully decorated with nice colors and modern furniture. There was a food bar (which was open weird hours so we didn't get to try it), ample lobby seating, a HUGE touchscreen LCD TV that provided directions, weather, traffic, and other useful info for the area. In addition, the lobby was very very clean and filled with areas for your laptop as there was free WiFi throughout.
Our room was pretty basic and nothing special. It was clear that the rooms too were newly renovated with fresh paint, furniture, carpet, fixtures, and bedding. The size of the room was a bit smaller than your typical Courtyard--seems this hotel might have been another brand at some point in time. There was a single vanity area with sink outside the bathroom and some sort of a counter area behind it. It would have been nice if there was a mini fridge in the cabinet there as there was nothing in it. Overall everything was very clean and attentively dusted. A/C worked very well, TV was great, and the bed was comfortable. Shower pressure was decent.
Our only complaint about this hotel was the noise. We were given a room that was near the loading area for 2 of the 4 restaurants next to the hotel. Every morning at 7:45 AM the delivery trucks arrived with blaring back up alarms, brake sounds, loud talking, and banging. So at 7:45 AM we woke up every morning (after going to bed at 1AM from a long day of visiting family). A hotel that overlooks a restaurant loading dock is not a great idea. So if you plan on staying here, keep the noise in mind and/or request a room that does not overlook this area.
