Traveled to Boca Raton with my daughters for a tennis camp. We were supposed to stay at this hotel for 9 days. We only lasted one night. The hotel room, at a first glance seemed ok. After a long day of travel, we unpacked. We did find a couple of stray hairs in the drawers, but didn't think much of it at the time. We went to the front desk and asked about the extra towels and foam pillows I had requested in my original reservation. I was told that the towels were not a problem but that there was nothing on her paperwork about "feather-free" pillows. I showed her MY paperwork and asked if she could please provide us with the foam pillows anyway. She told me, in a very condescending tone, that "next time" I should request a "feather-free" room...Right.
After dinner we decided to come back to the room and take showers and this is where our nightmare began. The shower was, as my daughter called it, hairy. I rinsed it off for her and we all took showers, ugh. I noticed that the back of the bathroom door was extremely filthy, as was the "artwork" hanging on the wall.
The worse part was getting into bed. Pulling the covers and discovering long hairs, even pubic hairs between the sheets on both beds!
What was I to do at that time (11pm)? I tried not to freak out for my daughters' sake. I was completely grossed out. If I would have been alone, I think I would have left right then!! I told them we should pretend we were camping and we slept rolled in the duvets (thank God they were clean) on top of the beds) and I promised that we would leave first thing in the morning.
In the morning we packed and went downstairs for our "complementary" breakfast that was part of our package, but there were so many restrictions, I just told my girls to order whatever they wanted and I would pay the difference. Coffee was good. Staff was friendly. Bananas were green...
We went to the Hilton Suites, booked a room (looked at it first to make sure it was clean) and came back to the hotel to pick up our luggage.
When we checked out, I explained to the lady at the front desk the reasons why we were checking out and she informed me (as she was popping her gum) that first, it wasn't her fault we had a bad experience and that second, I should tell someone... Yes, she really said that!!!!
I reminded her that I was telling HER because SHE was behind the desk, therefore representing Marriott.
I could not believe it!!
We could not get out of there fast enough!
Yes, I could have reported the incident to houskeeping the night before but for me, you only get one chance to make a good impression.
To add insult to injury, when I received an e-mail survey from Marriott asking about our stay, I tried to fill it out and add these comments but was unable to complete it due to their "server not responding"...
