“Hotel and rooms not up to standard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

My ladyfriend and I spend several nights at the Doubletree Guests Suites
in Baca Raton, Florida. The rooms were very old and had a musty odor.
We asked for and given another room to look at....the 2nd room was even
worse....old and with a musty smell. We had two TV'S that had to be 15 years old plus in order to turn the power on or adjust the sound, only the control on the set worked. There was a charge of $4.95 for a below average breakfast. The front desk was helpful and the rooms relatively clean. The swimming pool was the best part of the hotel. Very nice area and heated to a perfect temperature (many hotels advertise heated pools but are not heated to a comfortable level). I understand this hotel is under new management and is beginning to renovate the rooms. This could
make a difference in the future. If and until there is significant renovation
done, I would not recommend this hotel at any price.

“Disgusting”

I'm adding this review, for a stay over 12 months ago for the dubious posterity of being my worst hotel experience and the only 1 star "Terrible" review I've given.

I flew to Miami from Philly, bad storms delayed my arrival until the early hours. On arrival, the staff acted as though I was bothering them just to check in. I got my key after 10 minutes or so and headed up, found a filthy room that hadn't been cleaned, beer bottles everywhere, I walked to the bedroom thinking I would find someone in the bed, there was just unclean sheets.
They sent the "security guard" up to take a look and bring me a new key, which turned out to be a teenage girl.
There was no apology and I was simply handed the new key with a grunt.
If Hilton haven't disenfranchised this Mickey mouse operation, then they need to already. With the simplest, cheapest software and housekeeping properties, it shouldn't even be possible to check someone into a dirty room. Not that the "clean room" was much cleaner. Stay away, unless you're shopping purely on price, which even at under $100 per night, is too much for this dump.

“A boiling culderon of Eccoli”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

I am not writing this as one of those travelers that have had the best and want everything to be perfect. I write this as an inexperienced traveler that has never had the best, but am sure that this isnt it.
We checked in on a tuesday for our Honeymoon and after reading about 2 dozen good reviews of this place were looking forward to it. First of all there are not flat screen 25 inch tvs in every room. (not in ours anyway) The living area is small and crowded for two people and the bedding isnt as stated on the website either. This is only slight aggravations.
When we checked in, i had to be and after i flushed the toilet the handle broke off it!! Well we were in a good mood and thought nothing of it, reported the problem and went shopping in deerfield for the afternoon.
When we returned we figured to go for a swim but when we got down to the pool there were dead bugs, live ones and palm leaves all over the bottom of it.
I dont like to complain so i just figured it hadnt been cleaned that day and decided to get into the hot tub with my new wife.. This thing looked like a rolling tub of cesspool filth with hard water and algae stains all over it. Literally concerened for the health of some unsuspecting guest that got into this boiling vat of eccoli, i reported this to the front desk as well. I was informed by the front desk clerk (who was a nice person) that no one ever complains about the pool. We were the only car in the parking lot!!!
We checked out and stayed at the hilton suites much nicer place $200 more but for the pricce you pay here. you could go to the super 8 and have bettter at half the price.
I was also informed that this is no longer a double tree property i dont know as they are still proposing to be. Either way maybe stay a night for business but thats it and i hope you dont have to use the bathroom... GOOD LUCK!

“Great value for a one night stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2010

I couldn't believe how inexpensive this hotel seemed for the all the ammenties. We traveled with young children and were in need of a hotel with closing door --ie, bedroom for us, and makeshift bedroom for our children. We were quite pleased with everything. It was a nice, quiet spot away from any noise or disturbance. We did not have time to use the pool but it looked nice.
We would definitely stay here again when we visit Grandma and Grandpa

“Exceeded my expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2010

My sister, brother-in-law and I recently stayed here while visiting my father who lives in Delray Beach. The location was excellent off I-95 and Yamata Road and I really enjoyed the suite. It had a living area with a pullout couch and flat screen TV which was separated from the bedroom by a bathroom area with a walk-in shower. The front desk and housekeeping was very friendly and attentive...when I called to ask for an extra towel they brought me a whole stack of towels fresh out of the dryer. Looked like they had a nice pool although it was too cold for us to use it. It was my understanding that this hotel is not owned by Doubletree anymore and that remodeling is still being done. There were some minor finishing touched that needed to be attended to such as some grouting by the shower but it didn't affect my stay. My sister and her family also stayed in a suite with a bathtub and they enjoyed it and thought it was a great deal.
